Will there ever be a "final map"? Live another 1000 years to find out.

Hopefully not bigger. Already a chore to drive around that far

Just don't drive that far then lol. Why would they limit the map size because a few people want less space to explore?

A tip that seriously reduces the "chore" of travelling far on foot - use the walk-to context command and then speed up time as you walk. Makes late apocalypse playthroughs far less tedious when there's no working cars.

i drove from louisville to rosewood and back in less than an hour, a bigger map would be better for this game, more places to explore and loot, and more room for cities

It took me and my group a little over 5 minutes to go from middle Muldraugh to the military base past Rosewood. That's a chore?
So how was your experience with the military base ? I got a freaking hand gun and a box or two of ammo... FFFFFUUU. Went there during a snowstorm, the wood trail section was kinda scary with all the zombies and trees in the way.

Since vehicles have been introduced, getting around the map is pretty easy now. I can't imagine still trudging around on foot, that would make the game pretty much unplayable for me (and I'd imagine many others).

As for the final size of the map, I don't think there needs to be a limit. PZ's map is actually based on a very real area in Kentucky, and all the places on the map are real existing towns and landmarks (Louisville, West Point, Muldraugh, Dixie, March Ridge, Rosewood, etc) even small details like the liquor store (Jerry's Drive Inn), the drag race track or the salvage yard off the highway south of Louisville, it's all where they are IRL, check Google Maps! Of course the game perspective skews sizes and distances, but it's largely accurate to the area.

A prominent location still missing is obviously the gigantic Fort Knox military base, but I think it's already coming in a future update, and there's actually a modded one already faithfully recreated based on the real deal. Speaking of mods, there are already huge additions to the game map in the workshop, like Bedford Falls, Raven Creek, OTR (Over The River), Grapeseed, etc., and the gigantic Cherbourg which itself is as big as the base game map and it's set in France.

Also, speaking of the "Military Base" you guys mentioned, I'll plug the guide I wrote about the place with some interesting details. I'd appreciate the feedback :)
