I tend to read a select few level 1-2 books while watching every show I can for the first week. After that I catch them if I can.
i think its acceptable to go if you brought 75% in the skill. catch the shows up to a point.
But i in the first week use the TV schedule as my timing. So i want to be inactive at the hours of the shows. And if i miss a show always kicking myself damn i could have used that.
I feel like the Carp is the only show you really wanna get if you brought a boost with you. Aside that initial clearance time can be all consuming you really have no time to squeeze a book in. Or even a decent amount of a book without fast reader.
Still particuraly riverside
riverside really because of the VHS store you really can miss a bunch of shows here with little to no consequence.
Catching them at all is worth it, even for a small amount of XP. Dying to catch one of the shows is not worth it.
Plus most of the concentrated VHS locations are either very out of the way (Riverside) or in dangerously populated areas (Muldraugh, March Ridge, Lousiville etc). So you're gambling that you'll be able to retrieve the VHS's instead of dying in the process and losing the XP you've already earned.
So going VHS over live shows is a choice, but not always the right one.
True - So much of the early game is striking a balance between short term and long term need.
In the ideal world I like to read the relevant skill book then sit down to watch the video and get the exp and the bonus. But if I'm in the base and a show's on or about to come on the TV isn't going off and I'm not going out.
Every playstyle is valid since this is just a sandbox after all.
Planning around the TV shows sets good habits for keeping a schedule. It is rarely talked about how important it becomes to have a schedule for when to eat/sleep/exercise/watch shows.. or any number of other chores.
