Press E next to a vehicle door when you see the green highlight appear and you should enter, unless the car is locked in which case you'll hear a little sound of your character trying the door handle.
Similarly, you can press V next to a vehicle to bring up the vehicle radial menu. This will show you a handful of various options, I believe there is an option to enter the car from that menu too but you may need to be next to a door for it to show up
Good luck!
EDIT: As an afterthought, figured I should mention that you should also check the radial menu while inside the vehicle, it gives additional options that don't appear when you're not in the car (like adjusting the radio or AC/heater, hotwiring, etc)
Hope you're still enjoying the game OP. You killing all those zombies now? Seems like you're getting the hang of things :D
Back to 90s... i though its year 2023 and there will icon for entering a car :)) or mouse menu...
Jeez :))
YES! Listen for the double sound when getting in, the door open sound followed by a door close. Can't tell if you hood or trunk are open either.
I hope that some of their cash reinvestment into build 42 will be spent on animator time to make door animations. So many people would enjoy that I imagine.
