What's better? Barricading a window, or destroying it with a sledge and making it a wall?
I just got my hands on a sledge hammer and was looking at the wiki trying to work out if I should replace my barricades with walls. It says barricade health is much higher than walls, is this true?

Its all crap at low level carpentry
1 zombie couple of hours at max barricade.
you should instead install a distraction device on timer interval
multiple distraction devices
very difficult to do that. to build enough of them.

so you should probably just run a siren some ways from your home.

I've got level 8 carpentry and am working on levelling metal working. So I've got level 3 walls.

Here's what a gentleman told me in a YouTube comment. The best option is a barricaded window. You can fully barricade it on both sides, meaning the zombie will have to destroy each piece outside + 1 piece inside before they can see inside. If they do manage to fully destroy the barricade, they will then come in the window. If you just build a wall, they will just destroy the wall, leaving a gaping hole they can walk through.

Of course if all you can afford to do is a wall, then it's better than nothing and a log wall will be more efficient at lower levels of carpentry.

Also, the wiki's info on wall durability seems to be inaccurate. Last time I looked at it anyway, it appeared that someone was in the process of fixing it, but never did.

I'm using a level 3 wood wall at carpentry level 8.

Here's the thing. If your barricades broke down, the zombies will try to climb over the window and topple over. If your player-made wall broke down, the zombies will waltz in like they own the house.
Which you think is better?

Well I'm 99% sure the health on the wiki are outdated for barricades and walls.

It's not about the walls' and barricades' health.

It's what happens after. Would you prefer a wiggle room to escape? Or would you prefer a quick death. It's just that simple.
Zombies will fall down trying to climb windows and will take their time getting up.
But they will just walk right in after your wall is torn down.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i believe the motion sensor noise maker will do the trick to guide it away from your windows.
For as long as you went out of its vision that is.
Sometimes maybe the house is just badly positioned and is part of a natural flow where zombies will often pass.

I go with the others and say windows x8 are best.
But at the same time don't expect to sleep through it

the car at the window somebody suggested to me
is the superior method. if u can get enough cars for all windows you'll be fine
That way
if u did build the wall you are at risk
but keeping the window you are not.
because a crawler could get under the car and get the wall

I've got escape methods, its a two story building and I've got access to the roof with escape ropes prepared.

Then you can use furniture bottom of the stairs and not use the downstairs let it go derelict that's normally what i do if i didn't have a sledge. U can do a blockade bottom of stairs maybe at the good carp skill u have move some decent stuff like 2 tile sofas, so they have to eat through both tiles of it. Then you can have a block up the stairs so plenty warning. U could barricade it. but if they kept destroying and navigating through the house on their way somewhere then totally barricade what stays but don't keep re-barricading that place because its a waste of wood and you won't get ontop of it.

waste of wood i mean waste of nails :)_

just ocurred to me
might be true that a book case acts as a barricade.
hey listen

If you knock out the window. replace with a wall.
and then
burn the wall segment in controlled fire
so that you can E jump thru it
then put a bookcase behind it i think it might be ok forever

Depends upon carpentry level

You can get some REALLY tanky walls if you build it right with 10 carpentry
