CROWBAR OR AXE
Ive been thinking about it for some time, which is better? me personally I like crowbar for early game and mid game because it dosent damage clothing and you can get into survivor houses easier, but I like axe in endgame because it does more damage. what do you guys think?

I usually carry an axe, a spiked baseball bat, a crowbar, a machete and a nightstick.

Swapping those around to level several skills and when the situation requires a different tool ^^
Every weapon gets pretty powerful past level 6, why choose? ;)

i personally like to use hunting knives but carry a bunch of cleavers when i get my hands on them, the damage they do can be devastating sometimes and work as an axe in a pinch if you need to bust down a security door or chop down a tree

With realism mods, the crowbar easily
It can be used to open damn near any door or car

I am an avowed Crowbar guy and have been for years. In the very early days, I was an Axeman, but that changed when I saw how long Crowbars lasted with heavy use and never looked back.
Axes are strictly for trees in my worlds, and I will even harass any friends in MP who dare try to waste an Axe on a Zombie.

It all depends on your build, zombie population, loot settings, and if your running mods or vanilla. There are numerous mitigating factors that can easily sway my choice. There really isn't a "best" weapon in my opinion.

Crowbar

Pros - Highest durability of any weapon.
Not too difficult to find, can even be found impaled in zombies.
Very useful as a weapon and tool.

Cons - Cannot be repaired.
Low knockdown chance and average damage.

Axe

Breaking doors
It is very effective at breaking down doors, dealing 35 damage per hit.

Chopping trees
The axe is an ideal harvesting device to cut down trees (also 35 damage) to collect logs which can be cut with a saw to create wood planks.

Damage
Axe has a max damage of 2, the third highest of damage of any tool behind the Pickaxe and the Sledgehammer.

Repairing
Wood glue, Duct tape, Glue, Adhesive Tape

And the best thing

The axe can be used to slice open a watermelon.

So my opinion is that the axe is better, I like watermelons, cutting down trees and occasionally smashing skulls

In vanilla, axes and crowbars both have strengths and weaknesses, so the matter is not as clear. With realism mods (especially the realistic durabilities), a crowbar is an almost indestructible (just like in real life it would be) versatile tool, whereas axes are good melee weapons (and tools), particularly for a lumberjack. A pickaxe is simply one of the best vanilla weapons for a professional lumberjack (because he/she gets the unique trait that increases swing speed, pair it with some skills and you almost become a combat monster). So, my choice between these two is the axe skill. Long blunts are good too, just slightly worse.

Oh, and yes, the spear beats all of these (unless you have decent skill in axes as a lumberjack and/or can't afford to get stuck in a one-hit-kill animation and get eaten by the horde due to that). Use historical weapons and halberd will totally shred zombies (two-handed sword too). Polearms are the best (and often underappreciated in culture but never on the battlefield) melee weapons, and there is a metal spear mod that makes spears in this game a viable option. Plus, spears also are one of the best choices for melee in hunting (in real life).

All your weapons will retire eventually, but not your crowbar.

Stone axes. Final Destination. No Items.

(Seconding what was said above: axes above stone quality are too valuable to use on zombies, even though you eventually start finding random fire axes stuck in zombies every now and again.)

Weld an axe blade onto a crow bar.
Problem solved.

Would that even be a viable weapon/tool anymore? Wouldn't it feel unwieldy or have issues with proper mass distribution? Some combination tools and weapons work and makes sense, like hamaxe (a combination of a hammer and an axe, I own one), but this? A cursed idea like some of the meme cursed guns on the Internet (magazine-fed revolver... wait, what!? BELT-FED REVOLVER???).

Might as well slap a chainsaw onto that crowaxe then.
