You can build a new door and likely barricade it, but it will be destroyed again by zeds.
If you want a cheezy method you can build a fence and place or build behind each fence a box. That way the zombies will not be able to destroy it.
Place like normal
One is for placing the object as an item in the world, the other is to prop it up as furniture.
They should rename one option to avoid the confusion.
To prop up multi-part funiture you need to have all parts at hand either by having them all in your inventory or close to the tile where you want to place the furniture.
