The Weather
Been hammering down with rain for two days solid and wind chill factor brings outdoors temperature down to freezing conditions.

Asking for a general consensus - Should I stay indoors? Does getting wet and cold end up in unwanted illness? Or is it safe to ignore the adverse weather and go out looting anyway? Does it affect road conditions for driving?

Wet and cold will get ya sick if you stay out for an extended period

Unless you have Outdoorsman. Then you basically have to beg to get a cold

As above, you will get ill after a while. You should be fine for short periods however. Keep an eye on your moodles and if you get to "soaking" or "drenched" then get out of the rain to dry off a bit.

The biggest issue with driving in the rain is that it reduces visibility but as far as I know it doesnt affect how your car handles or cause skids. I could be wrong there however :)

Take a look time to time(each 5m IRL) to your character temperature when you are outside in these condition.Sometime you will wear too many warming cloth thinking you need it and your character become wet.Its will get you sick too.Starting from begining of december up to the next years end of april, you should alway take a look at your body temp time to time.

Wear some layers, find a leather jacket and make sure you both warm up and dry off at regular intervals.

outdoorsman and prone to illness effectively cancel each other out for 2 bonus points in the character creation menu.

inb4 someone goes on about how hastened zombification is a downside.

the vehicle physics in this game are pretty atrocious and bland, no matter how much you floor it in the rain, you can't really skid out/drift, even during winter. You can only really skid on sharp turns/use of the handbrake.

Anyways for rain, make sure to plant some crops if you don't got the irrigation mod. Might as well make bonus food on the side.
