where can i find some specific things
I'm doing a run in rosewood and this runs is the one wher eI can say I know what I'm doing. I'm at the point where I have a barricaded house a pretty good amount of supplies. Right now my overall "plan" is to live in that house for a while make a farm and rain collection and collect resources until i can get a car and some tow storage then head to louisville and set up a house outside in and then try to escape the exclusion zone.

So right now what can I do to grind my carpentry skill so i can make a rain collector, where can I get tools and materials for farming and building. My house is in that little neighborhood that in the center of the firestation, police, school, and strip mall. I've already hit the firestation police hq, and shops for food and other stuff. same with the school but i usually keep all the books there and pick them up as i need them. so besides houses where are some other places i can feasibly get to on foot. Also where can i get a duffel bag or something all i have is a school backpack and a satchel so i can do a long term scouting expedition

I usually grind carpentry by cutting down trees and sawing the logs into planks.

Bags kinda stink, so I usually use a mod for better backpacks.

Take the road east of Rosewood, there are some farm areas that could have seed etc.

If you are in that neighbourhood behind the firestation then there are a whole lot of houses there so you can just go house to house dismantling all the furniture to easily level up your carpentry.

The farmland south of the firestation quite often has "farmer" zombies and they can potentially be carrying seed packets. If you have access to transport then there is a farming supply store in Doe Valley which is kind of NNW from Rosewood which should give you everything you need to grow food.

As for bags, if you have cleared the Police station then it might be worth heading back there to check the various locker rooms. You are pretty much guaranteed to find a Police duffel bag in one of the lockers. Also just watch out for random zombies with hiking backpacks etc which will be an upgrade on a duffel bag.

For farming and building supplies, look inside the garages and sheds scattered around the town.

Going north past the gas station or south past the construction site will lead you to farmlands if you want higher chance of getting farming supplies. But they aren't within walking distance.

As for bags, check the cabinets/dressers inside the rich-looking houses, usually inside the bedrooms. You can find hiking bag/big hiking bag fairly often. Large backpack can spawn too, but it's extremely rare.

I find the skill grinding logic pretty funny. "Oh no I need to learn how to nail a plank to the wall. Better got destroy my neighbors furniture!"

Ok I'll try and go to the farm nearby. As for the police station. I must have some bad RNG because theres never any duffel bags. Usually all I find there are holsters, ciggs, and some weapons. Still useful but not a bag.

Boosting your carpentry -

Get some skill books, raid the VHS stores. But you said you didn't get a car yet. (All woodcraft episodes, combined with exposure survival gives you a massive chunk if you skill booked it too)

Plank up your windows, start building a base from scratch. Building about 500x floor tiles for a base can boost your skill hard.

That and yea, dismantling beds or whatever.

Haha, yeah agreed. There were some recent threads about how would we survive in a real zombie apocalypse and I did think at the time that breaking all my furniture probably wouldnt help me too much :)

Kind of unlucky on the bags - theres a lot of locker rooms in that Police station but guess the dice didnt roll in your favour. Police cars also often have duffel bags in the trunk so maybe worth watching out for those (might even be some parked near the station).

As for seeds, i forgot to mention this one - its quite rare but you can sometimes find them when foraging and the chances go up when you have a higher skill level. Even better chances when foraging on farm land. Theres some mods which make things a bit more logical as well such as "potato rebalanced" which allows you to grow potatoes using the tubers as seeds (plus its an awesome mod name).

Best of luck to you anyway.
