I love the game, had dozens of playthroughs. Me and my friends waiting for B42 for the bigger map, more floor levels, Animals etc. but to be honst: We don't think this will happen in 2023.
The development is very very slow
I mean, I never said that at all. Not saying it won't come out late 2023, but I explicitly said 'its better to be thinking it's coming at the end of the year than thinking its coming in a month' and all the implication to be taken from that is 'end of the year' is a closer estimate than 'a month'
Fact of the matter is the crafting stuff is hugely ambitious, out of all the different 'pillars' that we refer to was delayed a great deal due to a serious illness of the principle dev nearer the start of b42's dev, is the biggest part of the update, and there are still too many unknowns as to whether we'll fly through the remaining work or it'll drag out and be a huge headache and pain to finish. This is why we don't give ETAs, even vague ones. If we knew it was coming out at the end of the year, we'd have said so explicitly.
All we can promise it'll come eventually, and will kick ass, and while people will probably as always get annoyed and impatient and frustrated with us before that happens, after its released people will love it and say 'I'm glad you didn't rush this out like some other games do!' and the very thing that has been frustrating people will be the best thing about us (until b43 is in the same spot :D)
So we'll take the black eyes that come before then :)
Get back to work.
They...would would eat the grass or forage...and drink rain water or from rivers/lakes. You'd be surprised the efforts animals go through to survive if they see food/water on the other side of the fence, it's almost like theres some *drive* keeping them alive
That and a fence, even an electrified one, will not stop a hungry/thirsty farm animal from breaking it to survive.
Me and my group fears the same thing. Mainly because in the past we fought with faulty servers that would break, shutting themselfs along with our save files.
In total we lost 5 saves, that had literal years of history...
We started to get paranoid when the tought of "what if a new build comes out and resets everything lmao, like it happened when 41 came out. It will be the sixth time, looting, creating the farm, building water source, building a giant wall... etc"
Im not complaining, i agree! thats the way it is! Dont get me wrong, i work with IT, the software i work with does the same thing.
But my point is: arriving at a year and a half of progress, is such a diferent and facisnating gameplay, i never found other game like it. We play custom box, with the zed spawn turned off. (but sometimes it still spawns zeds, but anyway) The zeds are almost in the hardest mode , pinpoint, eagle eyed and sprinters, (not the runners) also low loot.
After a year 'n half, you literally estabilize yourself with food and weapons, but youre still not in control and for me the game shines on this stage...
The zombies can hinder you by migrating, or they can pose a threat being runners, or the occasional helicopter events.
Prison and the mall are awesome to go with friends, along with the whole Louisville. It gives the adrenaline you need and motivation to keep going. I mean, you can survive whole weeks inside your base just farming and eating granola bars, but one day youll have to go out, and these moments are amazing, and even better a year later, atleast for me, the vibe is great...
But for some people i see it tiring out, getting exaustive "doing the exact... same fricking thing... over and over again expecting... feces to change..." - Vaas
I usually now play with friends to get our fix, test strats or traits, or new challenges like surviving only with prospecting (you cant... it sucks) i recommend you the same, dont do anything serious for now, dont pour your blood out just yet, just vibe with the game, try challenging yourself into thinking of new ways to survive and "beat the game".
It is easy to get fed-up and just think f*** it
Some of the corporate java stuff I work on is decades old , badly written and the last thing I need is some exec ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at me about how they don't like this or that & the know people who could do it better.
The one thing they all have in common , is they know FA about full stack development and think that it all begins & ends at the screen, the only thing they actually see.
