Project Zomboid

Help, my laptop is a potato and I can't play without serious framerate issues!
I recently bought Project Zomboid, but I can hardly play it in singleplayer and not at all in multiplayer. My pc is:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4005U CPU @ 1.70GHz 1.70 GHz
RAM: 4.00 GB

I have mostly optimised the settings in the game, so I'm asking if there are mods or other ways to improve my framerate.

You can try the above I suppose.. But really I think that laptop is to far below the recommended specs.

You'll likely not find any mods to make the game run on something that old. That laptop is using 8 year old parts. In computer years that thing is ancient beyond measure. Unfortunately you're going to need to upgrade to something from this decade if you want to play nearly any game currently running. Sorry for the bad news but hopefully you can update your equipment soon.

Well it is a laptop, but actually its performance is more on par with a 12 year old desktop...Or a 14 year old one. (I have an 8 year old 4690K, and it only has started recently to show its age both in work, in games, especially in this one, and in other stuff.)

yeah this game is HEAVY on resources, even if you got a brand new 3090 ti and 128 gigs ram and 8 cores at 4.80 ghz it runs very very poorly, exspesialy if you have zome to 225% or whatever it is, even compressing textures wont make it run better on new hardware

go ask other people, peole with high end computers still have issues keeping the game running stable, no mods all vinnala, still with have HUGE frame drops

Bought 3080 w/ 11700k to test this claim …

Gets me 55 or above in 3840x1600z 90 or above on 2560x1440.

Also 225 is disabled specifically because values above 200% harm performance. Turn on at own risk.

Compressing textures is meant to decease vram for potatoes. It probably slightly decreases performance on capable computers, if anything.
you went out jsut now to buy those for a test? thats dedication
and why would compressing decrease performance if it specifically says its suppose to increase it?

Maybe I work on an indie game targeting toasters and don’t see the point in spending $4000 on a desktop frivolously?

What do you think compresses textures? The gpu. What’s that mean? Taking time to compress those textures instead of just loading them.
so its on the fly decompression and not a 1 time compression?

I’m not a graphics programmer, so don’t know the details, just the observed effect and intent behind it.
so i should turn it off and i will run better?

That’s what I tried to tell you before to berated me for *checks notes* spending four grand to find out that changing a few settings in nVidia control panel was all that was needed to see decent performance.
i wasent meaning to sound berating? im sorry if it sounded like that, thank you for your work, again im sorry if i was sounding or be rude
