I cant read books
Playing on a save with mods, I grabbed some books to read but every time I try to read them I simply can not read them. It doesn't make the flipping noises sound and the progress bar doesn't budge a bit, I turned off the reading mods that I had installed but yet nothing has worked. This doesn't apply to magazines though, I can still read them but relatively slower I feel.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Not possible, tried to read the level 1 carpentry book and the progress did not move a single bit. It happened on all books

does this have any side effects for my save? I don't mind going within the save file but I would rather not delete something that I'm knowledgeable about. Can you tell me what the lua file is?

its a folder of settings. the game will repopulate it on load. settings from disabled mods sometimes mess things up. always back to be safe ofc

Do you have the illiterate trait?.. Illiterate means you can't read.

Considering he can read magazines, I suspect mod issues here.

If it's a new save I say using Mod Manger start making test saves to see what mod is causing your issue. Make a "Master Mod List" and add mods you want in it in batches and test it until something breaks. Once it does test the mods you added in that batch to see which one is causing the problems.

Some mods aren't safe to add mid game, have hard incompatabilities, or have soft incompatablilities and need either a patch mod or specific mod load order to work

never picked illiterate in any playthrough i had so this isn’t the mistake, although i maybe dumb at times but if this were the case, i would not recover from the sheer amount of embarrassment
