The more layers you wear that gets patched up with leather strips, the more overall protection you have.
Level 10 tailoring gives 10% bite protection and 20% scratch protection for each leather strip patch. So it's not impossible to get 100% scratch protection and over 80% bite protection on every limb.
Not to mention, level 8 tailoring can repair the holes, meaning you can wear the same clothes over and over rather than going around looking for a new one.
Or... just git gud and don't get hit.
So yeah... I ain't bothering then lol.
☝
Why would you spend 10 minutes looking for a new jacket when you can just repair the one you have in 30 seconds?
indeed I agree with this, because when you not only need a jacket, but a specific hot pink jacket (don't judge)... 10 minutes wont be long enough to find it.
==============
the bullet protection from leather tailoring is good for pvp online.
I dont armor up in game much, and use tailoring to fix holes in the perfect item i need.
so for me it is a skill i like to level up.
if you can't take the time to level it up and want it leveled, just cheat the skill up and BAM, no more "wasting" time on a grind you hate.
In multiplayer its quite useful skill.
Because of the increased gunshot armourage
I think if you could buff clothes up for warmth would be a differn't matter.
Using teh Yarn and Wool. for a wool lining. Or fur lining for the hunter.
Potentially if it was Shoe Repair. and some new rarer shoe types with premium perks existed.
Like Wrestling boots.
Snake Skin Boots.
Also maybe clothing that gives you a slight inconspicuous buff. and for the high visibility the opposite inconspicuous nerf. I wouldn't say for Camo gear. but for some Trench Coats, and a Balaclava. or even heavily bloodied clothes and skin gain a slight inconspicuous buff. Heavily dirty skin, inconspicuous buff.
For Shoes Wrestling Boots give slight nimble boost
u know. not all speed and the like. High Heels they will never add but somebody back there would want to. and if they did then it would be a nerf to lightfoots current effect; maybe 0.8.
So when we meet the challenge we are too light footed that when we go into a house. and there are zombies upstairs or hidden around corners, that we didn't expect because we smashed a window and fought a few downstairs and heard no banging, we expected the house be empty. If the char war some shoes that nerfed his lightfoot noise profile maybe he be just loud enough to drraw the attention.
But why even cheat? Books and VHS get you far ahead in levels without ever having to pick a sewing kit, provided you either have the books and the VHS tapes.
im not sure if the vhs tapes and books can get your tailoring up to the level to repair holes in clothes. carpentry, cooking, yeah all those books with tv/tapes net huge xp and is SWEET.
I only know of these two tapes in vanilla:
Granny Nani and Tailoring 101 which only give a 75 base xp each, which is not nearly enough to totally repair clothes. and those are way more rare because they dont spawn like the regular tapes, being home vhs recordings.
What are the other vhs tapes that give tailoring xp?
skill books only get you a multiplier of xp and not actual xp, so while a bonus, you still need to "grind" the time wasting thing. (i grind it during storms or nightime before sleep, without cheat it in.)
so the players who want the level 10 tailor without tailoring have the option to cheat it in. it only hurts that player, and only if you think it hurts them, and that is just an opinion.
Thats why i suggested it to them. it wont have any effect on anyone else at all, and might give them some insight on what tailoring can offer. and allow them to continue to play the game without feeling bothered.
it would cheapen your game experience and mine as well, but someone else? its fair game.
tailoring will likely be reworked when the new build drops, so this is likely going to be an obsolete topic by 2024 end.
