Best base locations that aren't houses?
Houses are so boring. I'm looking to make my base somewhere else, somewhere that's more interesting than simply a house. So far, I've had 3 main places that I've used as a base, but I'm wondering if anyone has any more cool base locations that aren't houses that I could try? I much prefer urban play so preferably nowhere too rural.

The three places I've tried are:

This storage area, which is my most common base. I tend to enjoy storage lockers because you really get that "I'm surviving in a zombie apocalypse" feel, as well as having a "you never know what you're going to get" chance when opening up each one. Also they generally have at least one tent kit I've found, or enough materials to make one, so sleeping is easy.

This warehouse, I only tried this place once, and I didn't survive long because it's very close to town, but I enjoyed it when I did.

And last but not least is this tavern. I've survived the longest here, but it was a little too "out of the way" for my liking. By the end, I didn't even need to clear out zombies that had wandered into the area, it was entirely clear already. I did enjoy the feel of the place, though, and would definitely live in a tavern again.

A bit down and right of West Point, not a lot of zombie activity here.

Well the WP can be closed off with a bit of car moving, so can be turned into quite a safe place:)

Fire Dpt. in Rosewood. Blocked off every entry with cars. Built even a long second level story to pass through the fences. (Made under it support pillary too to make it realistic!) Was in version 40 thoguh, and you could not climb over fences then. Is a good place, huge space, can floor the top of the garage to make it into a garden.(In ver 40 you fell through the roof if you did not do this)

The logging camp in Rosewood is also easily blocked off. Three little houses within.

Any of the hotels in Rosewood block of the entrance via a car, and nothing will get it whereas you can safely come and go....well most of the time, but helps a lot having a safe base. Just watch where you place your gennies!

Muldrough. -> Warehouse north of town. Just knock down the stairs, and build the whole second story completely. Make a few ways out via floors and pillars and you are good.

Mccoys logging camp. Good place.

Riverside wreckers. One of my fav places.

The closed down place on the east northern part of map.

East of Muldraugh. Can close it off with one or two cars and you have also a house nearby to stash or get additional stuff. You can walk from there north to reach the trailer park too, and Muldraugh aint far neither:)

Depending on how you play, Knox County Prison gives you a lot of impenetrable area. Anybody know if it's big enough for zeds to respawn in?

The impenetrable caged Garage Area could be a nice base for you. Its near the shooting range/bridge. Once cleared literally no Zed can come inside unless you Slagehammer your way in.

you gonna need house one way or another sleeping in rain or snow is not really fun, you can try mods though, take apc mods and just sleep in it, it is extremely durable and capable to ward zombie.

I want a building, just not a house. Warehouses, stores, storage sheds, hell I'd even take apartment buildings. With the ability to move furniture, you can turn any building into a "house", and I feel like it's much cooler living out of a place people don't typically live out of (though an apartment would be cool just because I don't know of any on the map so if there is one I'd love to know.)

Wreckers in Riverside is a good place then. Has a trailer or container, with some chairs a file cabinet, a table and a metal container. I usually actually expand it, to have more room.
Get some kitchen furniture, bring there an oven, get a bed and so on.
Soooooooo. A little controversial perhaps and it will be an huge pain in the butt but if you can clear it, it's an amazing structure for renovations and basically unlimited storage space. And if you break down everything in it you're carpentry will go banana's. The apartment complex in March Ridge. I challenge to this is getting access to the roof. Also finding and creating an outdoor space for a genny. If you can't get roof access behind the building has lots of fields and a forest for all the wood you could want

Haha:) One of my plans in March Ridge is to have the school turned into base.
Just like i did in the past with the FD in Rosewood.

But March Ridge is probably the deadliest place there is at the beginning! (I was so happy when i managed to loot the food out of it in one of my runs on the second day of the game start! Got in filled up car with all the food got back to my base. Allthough some food got rotten during the way but still was worth it! That time i managed to loot 2 supermarkets, a farmer's market, 4 restaurants and 2 cafe-s. Had over 200 pounds of food and did not even begin to loot food out of houses)

I don't understand how Bedroll is not an item in game. Anybody who has a giant hiking pack has a bedroll. If it starts raining and I am sleeping in the open air, then I get sick. But dying of exhaustion because you can't find a bed or set up a tent is just not realistic. Can you sleep in a grave?

maybe there will be expanded crafting since crafting kinda messed up you can sleep in floor no problem I think it doesn't need to be bed or sofa.
