Project Zomboid

Always Nervous Wreck?
So, I have taken up at Twiggys, built a wall completely around the place, have a pretty good setup. I sleep in a bed every night, have a good solid source of food, and not a zed within 2 miles. My traits are Brave, Strong, Fit, Organized, Fast Learner, Lucky, Outdoorsman, Dextrous, Cats Eyes, Axe Man, Weak Stomach, Sleepyhead, Hearty Appetite, Hemophobic, Slow Healer, High Thirst, and Thinskinned.

I am not injured in any way, take sleeping pills every night, beta blockers, and anti depress. Yet, no matter what I do I am ALWAYS a nervous wreck. I'll read books to get rid of the moodlet, but then it quickly returns, I started sleeping with sleeping pills to stop nightmares, and yet it remains. I moved to a different part of the map, thinking my zed slayer just needed a change of scenery, and he still quickly goes from happy to nervous wreck. Anyone have an idea why he is such a coward even with brave, and no zeds around?

You may have blood on you or somewhere nearby. It's definitely the Hemophobic trait though, so you need to make sure you've washed yourself, items and all your clothes and cleaned up any blood that may be in the building.

I actually just had this happen on a game I played. I think it might be a bug? Because I had the smoker trait, but I'd smoke a cigarette and it'd go away for little bit, but be back within a couple hours. Normally it takes maybe half a day to get anxious enough to want to smoke.

At first I thought this was just from a recent patch/update, but then I died and made a new char who smokes and the smoking habit-related anxiety moodlet came back at a normal interval.

So it may be a glitch/bug of some kind.

It is not a glitch or a bug.

Hemophobic causes anxiety when around blood, or blood is on you.
Like the above unread posts stated by @Death.

Thanks for the responses! I thought Hemophobic only dealt with doing first aid on yourself. didnt know they changed it, not that its a bad change, considering thats how hemophobia work irl. adds a bit more immersion into PZ.

Thanks guys!

Yeah, they probably should update the tooltip at this point to something like fear of blood or something.

Hemophobic has already been updated on the trait selection screen.

Ah. Hadn't noticed, because I never have and never will take it.

It's not a bad trait if you mostly kill from a distance or from the inside of a car or with massive burninating marathons. I don't think environment blood matters or if it does, not enough that I've noticed. Just blood on you and your clothes.

It's a huge pain for frequent melee though. Especially after the water runs out. It used to be free money and there was no reason not to take it. I can see why it changed.

It is still 'free money' after the water shuts off. If you build a water filtration sink, the rain is free clean water.

With the brave trait, I never really experience nervousness very often, unless I am covered in zombie blood. And even then, it is not that bad.

Agreed, nothing that cannot be warded off.

Is that an unmodded game thing? That sounds hydrocrafty to me. Also, hemophiliac doesn't just add panic now. It adds anxiety which eventually depresses you. Not sure brave counters anxiety.

Edit: Even with plenty of water, it's kind of a drag to wash all of your clothes every time you get into a serious splatfest.

The "water filtration sink" is mostly a bug in game which doesn't require any mods to make it happens, just build a garden house somewhere (No need to make something pretty if you ask me) place a counter inside of the garden house and place the sink on it, make sure to make stairs so you can go on top of the house you made and place EXACTLY At the same position where the sink is but on the roof of the house. If you done it correctly you'll be able to have pretty much infinite clean water everytime it's raining

This I disagree with. The fact is that it creates much more crap you have to deal with and forces you to not fight as much, which I understand is kind of a thing, but every time you get into a fight, you then have to wash yourself or constantly be a nervous wreck. In my opinion hemophobic isn't worth taking no matter what, because combat, despite being somewhat disincentivized, is still quite important and still happens more than you might want, making that trait annoying more than anything else. I might've agreed when all it did was make it so that you couldn't do first aid on yourself, but now it's more useless and annoying and not really worth the points in my opinion.

Interesting. I do not have the same experience with hemopobic.

I can kill 100 zombies, with no nervousness, or just a little bit of nervousness. Washing up makes that go away. And sadness is easily removed by killing more zombies for some reason. Or I can read a book, or eat some candy I found in a garbage can. As my zombie kill count goes up, my nervousness with blood goes down.

Not sure what you mean, but with that trait, I can still perform first aid on myself, but it does bring on serious nervousness for about a minute. Then it is gone.
