Vehicle Damage From Corpses
I have seen people say that you don't get tire and/or suspension damage from driving over corpses and I'm convinced that is a load of doodoo.. I repaired my truck with 100% tires and suspension. I drive strictly on pavement 99.9% of the time. I don't drive crazy. But I DO drive over piles of corpses pretty frequently (sometimes out of necessity but often just because it's fun and I've been told that it doesn't damage the vehicle) Tire and suspension are down to like 85% after not very long.

One thing I have learned about the various data points and trivia in this game is that people will say matter of factly that something is a certain way, when they don't really know for sure-- then it gets repeated and becomes gospel.

Only trust half of what you see and hardly any of what you hear!

An excellent observation.

I've always known that corpses damage tires & suspension.

It's typically why I try to fight zombies while making a congo line along sidewalks so I don't have to drive over them later on the main roads.

Spread the word! No corpses on the roads! Save our tires!

And this is why I hate it when people just insist on shotgunning zombies in the middle of highways. :D

Yep the OP fell for a rumour spreading false info. There are many false rumours regarding things. Some simply out of ignorance or not knowing how certain things work/or not noticing things got changed after a patch or two, but there is a bunch of folks who delibaretly spread them.
Also in version 41, your car gets damaged by pretty much anything. Even bumps on the road:D

Well, I haven't tested it myself, but this guy sure has done it:

According to him, it's not so much the corpses themselves that caused the damage. It's when you make your car fly after jumping a pile of corpses.

yeah that should have been obvious you cant just go flying at top speed over corpses, what do you think a speed bump is? the actual act of driving over a corpse does no damage, a hard landing from hitting them fast though is obviously gonna cause you some issues.

seriously, why do people treat their vehicles like their as disposable as a broken crowbar.

Cuz of certain games like GTA?:D Where you can trash it for a while and then just grab another one.

I did some testings ages ago, and i thought that if i drive over zombie corpses slow car wont get damaged. Sadly it still does, but at a much lower speed. If i recall well noticeable damage to any part of the car (percentage wise) was around 3-6 corpses run over. If you run over two corpses piled next to each other though you will get minor but noticeable damage. (These are from memory though, so my numbers might slightly be off, i tested these out a few months after version 41 came out, and some finetuning happened since then.)
I wish we could bulldoze zombies and corpses off roads.....

Yeah, it's almost as ridicolous as stone axes breaking after 3-5 uses...

But there are no infinite replacement parts for the cars.

< I see false rumors... > Yeah. Lots of times too, people loaded up so many mods for so long that they don't remember what is actually in the vanilla game, thus perpetuating the cycle.

To be honest though.. I'll probably continue to drive over them. (I do get a laugh out it and have yet to actually flip a vehicle)

A while back I asked about catching air time (totally airborne with 4 wheels off the ground) off corpse jumps and have tried a couple times to make one giant pile, but the number of corpses on a single tile doesn't seem to cause bigger jumps.. at least not the way I was doing it.

I once had probably 3 dozen corpses across 2 tiles and barely got a jump off it, but then down the road where there were just a half dozen, the vehicle nearly flips.

I try to avoid obstacles where possible. But i think the game is quite forgiving anyways in this regard.
Like going up and down of sidewalks surely wrecks your tires/rims... unless you do it at walking speed. But its not a problem in the game.
