Cigarettes

So 1 thing i find kinda unrealistic. You kill hundrets of Zombies, and loot dozens of Houses, but dont find a single Cigarette. Yes i know "go to a Shop" but having a whole City without Smokers seem kinda wrong (healthy yes, but unrealistic)
Also really? Not one Locker in School contains any either? You ever went to a School Dev?

I'd like to see that trait re-balanced too. The frequency should be much, much higher and there should be health effects. At the very least, smoker shouldn't be able to reach Fitness 10.

I'll take the unrealistically rare cigarettes (in 90's Kentucky ffs?) for there being no negative health effects. Seems like a fair trade to me.

It would be fun to have a chance to attract zombies that were smokers when having a cigarette, perhaps with more cigarettes and lighters on them. That would fit in Romero's cannon of lingering memories.

My character doesn't smoke, and I've only explored about a quarter of Riverside, and have already found about 200 cigarettes. The game is just like that sometimes.
Still no sledgehammer though. Nor metalworking equipment.

You can find Cigarettes and Lighters/Matches in Gloveboxes inside vehicles. Gas stations almost always have some too.

There's a mod that gives random zombies cigarettes, that's a must have. And there's another mod that just makes cigarettes more common

Don’t zombies randomly carry ciggs already in vanilla? I’m almost certain they do. I always choose smoker. Free points.

This sounds like a case of getting shat on by RNG.
I find cigs on corpses fairly often. Though it's probably only about 2 out of 10 zeds.
Same goes with car dashboards.
The 2nd best option to find cigs aside from convenience stores is office desks.
I find a lot of them by going through those desks you find in office buildings.

Same. I always take smoker (because I smoke) and in the beginning you may run out and have to read a book to cure some sadness but in the long run you find more than you need. In vanilla the occasional zed will have a pack of 20. On the modded server I play on they made them even more rare and you only find 10 at a time yet I still have enough.

So RNGeesus hates me. Got it.
But i would say 2 out of 10 still isnt realistic.
And i stand with my opinion that School lockers should have some too,

it's one of the few infinitely available resources in the world, since it can spawn on any zed, so I guess that's why it's so limited in containers. balance over realism in this case, though it is weird, since it's based on realism, it's why the whole trait exists. I've found more alcohol than ciggs in some runs, don't really know what to think of that.

I really don't know why people have such a problem finding smokes :S BUT! I hope this list helps you out bud as I always take the trait:

Sometimes found in the "bits" drawers of kitchens both business and residential ((ya know, drawers that have stuff like bulbs, house keys, mouse traps in them)).

Sometimes found on zombie bodies

VERY common in any vehicle's glove-box

VERY common in police stations ((on a good RNG roll, you can start not only inside rosewood's police station but you will probably find 400 ciggies from the desks there, seem to start in there a lot when I got nurse or doctor)).

EXTREMELY common in offices, you will find them in almost every desk XD and not just business offices either, offices in peoples houses, the back of shops, even a construction site's little desk in the porta-cabin will probably have some.

ALWAYS found in shops that sells alcohol / gas stations

I tend to start in riverside, and with some zombie stealthy jiggery pokery I can amass 1000 cigerettes on day 1 XD.

It was about more realism, because there should be more dropped from Zombies, and there should be some in schools.
