How to prevent crops diseases?
My character improved gardening to 7th level but still, every time i plant some seed, sooner or later it becomes sick . Yeah, I separate plants with one empty space between them, I water them a lot but they get sick anyway. It doesn't really do any diffrence for me. Is there some way to prevent/reduce plants getting sick? I know I can make sprays but they don't work for devil's water fungi and eventually like 90% of my crops are sick :/

This might be a dumb question, but what month is it? I know that I had an issue where my plants would become instantly ill because I was trying to plant them in September and it was too cold.

Middle of September. Oh well I thought I will be able to grow crops untill winter :/
Any tips how to grow some food before winter then?

Not really, its a random issue, you also can farm during the winter, but you will get not that much food at all.

If your plants are ill (if its the devil, then you cant do anything), you need to cure them.

are you watering them with unpurified water?

This also doesnt affect the plants.

in my experince, it has affected their health, which lead to disease;
but i wont discount it was some other factor.

I go into the sandbox options and set the start date back a month or two so there's not so much pressure to get crops in the ground right away.

I know in real life when you have too much moisture it'll cause mildew, growing lavender will deter bugs and burying beer cans to the rim with a small amount inside will trap slugs.

Would be cool to have a super indepth system like that but I'm sure lucky trait is the only thing you can do on top of what your doing to help prevent disease.
Don't plant your crops next to each other, diseases spread laterally.

So instead of this:

XXX
XXX
XXX

You want to plant like this:

This will prevent diseases spreading throughout your crops, but there is no way to prevent diseases completely. The best thing to do is horde Milk Packages and Cigarettes right off the bat, before you're even considering setting up a base and farm. Then you just have to be vigilant and check your plants for Mildew (treat with milk package + spray can) and Bugs (treat with cigarettes + spray can).

If your plants develop Devil's Water Fungus (usually from having mildew too long) and they're not ready for harvesting, dig them up and redig the plot (DWF stays in the soil), because it spreads like crazy and it cannot be cured.

Awesome, another informative thread! Thanks (Ol'Crusty) - also answered my question about the 'devil' in an earlier post LOL because I did not know the context. More good stuff to try!
