Q - Base
In single Player -> Will a Base stay with all resources if you move to a far point of the map for Days/Weeks ? Or will the Game "wipe" Player Buildings if you leave a Region and setup somewere else a 2. Base ? Is there a Limit ?

If you have a running generator, it will eventually run out of gas- And anything perishable within any fridges/freezers will rot over time too, of course, especially if the generator runs out of gas while you're out and you don't return for several extra days- You'll come back to everything being rotten.

But, Aside from that, Anything within the same save stays unless you remove it yourself. You could have a base in every city if you want to.

OK - Good to know, cause the contents of a Composter dissapears if i leave the Area. I have Build some Composter in front of the Supermarket to drop Spoiled stuff right into them so i dont have to carry it back to Base and let it Rot there... But well... that dosent work every thing is gone when i go back to the Farm i life. That's why i wanted to be sure i dont lose all Objects etc. if i visit a other Town/City.

Everything I dump into a composter eventually disappears and that seems normal.

I have no idea how I am supposed to use the composter to actually get fertilizer our of it. Perhaps you are having the same problem?

Only the ones in Town right at Market show this behave the ones at my Base seem to Work Properly... The Composter at my Base things dissapear to - But if i hover with the Mouse over the the Composter Icon it show me a x% Compost number. So i guess if i get enought % i can take that out with a (cloth) Bag. Check the Icon. Hope that Helps you a little. Anyway - I just dont want to lose all Caned food & Water i looted for Winter just cause i left my Base to Visit a oter part of the Map...

The food items you leave in a composter will eventually turn into compost hence disappearing. As above, if have an empty sack in your inventory you will be able to fill it by rclicking on the composter. Its also a good place to leave worms since they will multiply in there.

@WillieSea - Correction, I just checked cause i was not Sure - You have to right Click on the Composter. Then i shows you the % Content of Compost. But that with the Bag im sure - you need a Cloth Bag to take it out. Same as you use to make Sandbags. Those that contain "Bulk" Fruit/Veagetables in storage of a Market as Example.

Sort of related btw, but dont always throw rotten food in the compost since with a high enough cooking level you can still use a small part of the rotted item at no risk in stews or stir frys etc. Means you can give your food better numbers for happiness by having range of ingredients mixed in with your inevitable late-game cabbage soup :)

True... think after Lv.7 but not sure anymore. All that is "Stale" not Rotten... But to be fair i never took the Risk.

Thanks @Banzai and @Player 1, that was extra helpful in how to use the composter. You would think with as many hours as I have in the game I would have figured that one out. LOL

No, It actually lets you cook with Rotten food too. It's the only way to make a cake late into the apocalypse- The cake requires eggs and milk that will long be rotten by then.

The stale stage of food decay is perfectly edible/usable to cook with regardless of cooking level, no detriment to the player whatsoever for eating it.

Yeah this. You can only use a small % of the ingredient but its still usable when in the rotten state with high cooking levels. In my current run im occasionally heading out to places ive already looted in order to grab rotten milk/steak/salmon etc that I ignored before to add to my cabbage and radish diet :)

There are several large produce warehouses in the farm lands west of Muldraugh where you can get hundreds of sacks and thousands of produce. Even after everything rots in a few days it is a great source for compost and sacks. They are usually pretty clear of zombies as well, so if you find the essentials and a vehicle earlier you can snatch up a couple fridges and set up base in one. You end up having a food source for a month or more, fertilizer for years.

THX for the Info... And it Depends if you use the Default settings or have Custom ones. Cause i use "Super Easy" ones for Testing Purpose of the Game. :steamhappy: BTW - i Play the Game now the 2. Week and have a little more then 100H.

Default works like this as far as im aware - cooking 7+ allows you to use rotten foods. Should be the case with your settings but obviously you have to do a load of cooking to get to that point :)

Anyway glad to have helped. Good luck!
