Not yet. If I remember right, Build 42 will add it. We have no ETA on when B42 will drop.

I remember reading that they're working on it in one of the recent devlogs, so it's definitely coming.

yea its annoying. i can get the text right but the moodles and stuff like the car interface are all tiny af.

a WORKAROUND ive found when i was still running dual monitors that constantly conflicted with each other is to adjust ur zoom and/or resolution in ur pc (not the game) display settings. if u get it just right it'll scale properly, running windowed can help too.

it can be kinda tedious and sucks having to close and relaunch multiple times to test it. AND every time i want to play i gota jack with it and then change it back when im done....BUUUUT it works.

hope this helps

just went and re-tested this, i usually have my screen on 3840x2160 and everything looks great EXCEPT this game.

switched over to 1280x720 and everything else looks like jshit, but zomboid looks much better now.

Is this true? If so this has been a seriously long time coming. I know they cry about performance and whatnot, but what they don't realize is the issue isn't the in-game running at a higher res, it's the UI being incredibly small. Most games nowadays have a little option called upsampling in their games, where the INTERNAL resolution of the game is lowered, while the UI elements are ran at native res. This is all Zomboid needs to be playable for those of us with higher res screens. UI scaling should be one of the most basic features of any game. I don't care if the in-game needs to be run at 320p, as long as the UI is readable on a 4K screen. There are SO many posts about this issue over the years.

Is this true?

"Finally, in the Fun Stuff section – Fox’s 4K-ification mission continues. In fact, it’s nearly done and higher-resolution UIs for 4K players will shortly become available in the internal test build."

Again, we don't need higher resolution UI elements, we just want proper UI scaling. I appreciate the work into making new 4K elements, but it hasn't been necessary since the start. Just scale the UI higher if the native res is higher, and if performance is a scare, just add the ability to run upsampling/upscaling. I hope proper UI scaling is still being considered cause that post only mentioned higher resolution assets instead of proper scaling.

You really want to run this game in 4k?
Until the tile rendering fix rolls out in B42 (when hell freezes over at this point lol) trying to play zomboid in 4k will get you a buttery smooth 5-10fps in urban areas

And thats with a 7950X3D so intel cpus won't fair much better. Upscaling an isometric game is loony toons level of silly lol :emofdr: modern hardware can render TRILLIONS of isometric shapes per second with little performance impact if the rendering is handled efficiently. Go watch some tech demos from unreal/unity to see just how many full 3d animated objects you can have running around a 4k screen at high frame rates if level of detail is correctly factored in.

The root issue is the way the game is forced to redraw all onscreen elements every time anything on screen moves. This is a known problem from years ago. It has allegedly been fixed last year on the devs internal build. Why they won't roll this critical fix out is up to them, go ask them. There is no real fix until they roll out this system update.

Sadly you'll have to wait for the B42 update. I run at 2k resolution and things look fine and the frame rates hover around 20-30 in louisville even with the rendering problem. You'll need a strong cpu. :Nutcracker:

Not with rather recent and potent machines anyway. I get above 60fps in most zoom settings in louisville on 4k. But that's frankly not the issue. The scaling is, although it's fixed by using softwares like magpie and choosing a nicer res so you're not dealing with teensy tiny UI elements.

Once again. The issue is not resolution and framerate. The issue is scaling. All I want is the freakin icons to not be ant sized on my screen. I do not care if the internal render resolution is 240p, as long as the icons scale properly. Again. There are ways to run games at a lower resolution while keeping the UI high, and scaling the UI to the resolution. Most if not all modern games can do this. Again.

I wish Borderless Gaming allowed you to choose the internal res and just scale it, but I will absolutely look into Magpie, thank you!

Edit: Magpie works fantastic! It even has tons of different scaling algorithms, but the basic Lanczos scaling works perfectly fine. Just run it at 1080p windowed then activate it and bam, nothing is tiny anymore. Just what I need.

still no UI scaler? its so small in 4k

there is a force DPI setting in windows if you right click on the exe file and go into properties - same place the run native fullscreen option is

To have a high-res UI, you need all those images on the UI to be high-res, which is what they mentioned in that specific devlog.
Work on a high-res UI started and was mentioned way earlier, but scaling the images either makes them massive pixelated uselessness, or massive blurry messes.

The modern games you so desperately cling to as examples *come with 4k ready UI textures to begin with*, Zomboid doesn't have those 4k-ready textures yet, so they gotta be *made* in order to support a 4k compatible UI

Besides, the 4k UI option is not holding b42 back, it is the sheer complexity of the crafting system.
And as you are almost certainly going to ask, no they cant just push the UI changes by themselves. I can guarantee that they had to make large changes to how UI's are handled on the modding side to make scaling function properly, and the devs are not going to cause 2 separate "modpocalypses" just because some people cannot be patient.

Funny, cause I am playing the game 1080p just stretched with Magpie, and every single text, texture, and moodle, is completely readable.

Once again, you do not *need* literal 4K textures, just to have simple UI scaling. I honestly like the more pixel art type moodles than the hyper res cartoony looking new moodles. Hope there's a mod to change them back after the update if the rest art gonna look like that. All I was asking for was the UI to be bigger at higher resolutions. Again.

And no, not every modern game has "4K res" UI textures, in fact there are a lot of blurry UIs in modern games. But as I have stated like 3 times at this point, my issue was not blurriness, it was the UI being too small.

And really do not appreciate you assuming ♥♥♥♥ about me. I had 0 intention to ask them to "just push it out now", I know the extremely slow update cycle for this game, as does anyone who's owned it for a long time, and I am FAR from impatient. I have owned this game waiting for its full release for 13 years, so do not talk to me about "patience". There have been posts asking about proper UI scaling in this game for YEARS, and the devs always just went "barely anyone is higher than 1080p so we won't do anything for them" in deleted posts (yes I know they're deleted cause it happened in one of my own posts from a couple years ago). I am not demanding, I am not acting entitled, I am not being rude, all I want, is for the UI to be readable on a higher resolution. That's it. So get out of here with this "pretending to be on the morally high ground" BS.
