Priv server keeps asking me to select a spawn but i have a character already

i have lots of mods. but never had this issue idk how to fix it.

I recall this is a matter of player name. If you change even a single capitalization of your player name, you will be considered a new user and going to be asked to create a new character. Maybe check this first?

im confused? i dont touch my playername, i made the server, loaded it and joined it, made my character, pressed start, played for a good 6 hours. got off, went to bed, loaded the game and pressed start and it says select a spawn as if i never made a character?

Maybe try playing in a vanilla server or with less mods? Could be one of them suddenly breaking down.

From what I found after a quick search, changing player name is likely the cause:

But the name change can probably be caused by other reasons like a broken file caused by mods or improper shutdown, pretty much the same as getting single player save files corrupted.

do yk of a way i can check for broken mods or what file i can check for a change? ive never had this issue so im kinda lost :/ i removed alot of mods and its all stull messed up w somtimes the server shutting down the second i load in

In single player you can see an openly broken mod by pressing ESC to the pause menu and clicking the Mods button on the lower right side of the screen. Don't know if you can do that with multiplayer server.

Another way is by going through the log file, if you can read the error lines, you can make some guesses which part of a file those errors come from.

Other than that, the only way is to start fresh and slowly add the mods back until the game breaks again. The last mod(s) you added are likely to be the cause.

Changing your Steam profile name can mess things up in MP. I did that once, and despite being able to log in as my same character (I host the server), I no longer owned my safehouse. Switching my Steam alias back fixed it.
