Why should I even go to Louisville
I don't even think there's even any loot there that doesn't also spawn in other towns. Is this true or am I a naive, uneducated fool

There's just a lot of good stuff in one area. Plenty of weapons, clothing, food, tools, resources that can be found anywhere else, but it's likely to be spread out in those other places. It's basically a one-stop shop for anything you could want (besides location specific items) all in one zombie infested town

you are a naive, uneducated fool.
mods, don't ban me. he said it, not me
there's an army surplus store in Louisville i think with lots of guns and ammunition. there's also a military blockade at the south entrance of Louisville with many different cars and an armory. the watchtowers are guaranteed to be filled to the brim with thousands of dollars worth of firearms and ammo. both hospitals have tons and tons of medication, medical supplies and if a mod allows you to do corpse autopsies, you'll find everything you need for one there.
ps: if you plan on living your days out in peace, get the ♥♥♥♥ out of louisville right now

4 months in and I have only been to West Point once.. still haven't been to Riverside. (I'm in Rosewood) I have asked myself the Louisville question a lot. The game has been drowning me in Louisville maps for the last month; it's beyond suggestive. I've been slowly clearing the roads in that direction so I can make a return to West Point.. possibly to set up an auxiliary base to facilitate occasional Louisville trips.

But is there a practical point? I don't think so. I have everything I could need for the foreseeable future. Now that I'm finally attempting farming, it's less likely that I'll want to be that far away for very long.

With default loot rarity and a really long-lived character, I believe you could possibly develop a need to move closer to Louisville. With my settings (Normal/Common loot mixture) I could probably live for years on March Ridge's canned food alone.

There's a baseball bat factory and a strip club. It's also kinda cool to explore big buildings. But there's not a point to anything so, ya know. :LamentMoonman:

Well, in single player, LV is basically like a challenge you can tackle.
Just like going to the secret military base, there's no real point of going there other than the sake of going there.

I still haven't been able to reach that city, and my goal is still to create as many "survivor compounds" as possible in there. That's at least the challenge that I set up for myself.

If you are thinking of loot, then yes technically you can get just about everything in game elsewhere. But louisville has everything in one big area and loads of fun areas you wont find elsewhere.
If you get bored go there and murder all the zombies as a challenge!! But I've actually never been to Louisville before

I've been playing since January and I still haven't made it there yet. I plan to eventually head there, eventually lol

Depends of what your goals are :)

If your favorite hobby is dying a gruesome death, then Louisville is the place for you. There's a challenge in going there, but there is a LOT of loot there. Not different loot, just a lot of it.

But if you are trying really hard to survive as long as possible, it might be better to stay away.

it's also your one way trip for your character. Even if the zeds don't get you, the fps drop will.

That depends on a number of factors. Like if you're using mods to bypass the amount of zombies allowed to spawn near you.
