How to find a trailer in vanilla?
I'm well into my 2nd year in the game and I still haven't had the fortune of running into a trailer for my cars. I've cleared the entirety of Muldraugh and the surrounding area, currently in the process of clearing March Ridge and I'm starting to get desparete.

Is there any particular spot on the map that guarantees or even has a decent chance of providing a trailer for my cars or are the trailers exclusively bound to random accidents on the road? If the trailer spawn is trully down to rng, would scumsaving do the trick?

... for those that don't know what scumsaving is, it basically means saving before exploring an area and then reloading that particular save if the stuff you want hasn't spawned ...

Random. Keep looking. If not there, look farther. If not there, keep looking more far.

Change your Randomized Vehicle Stories Chance to a higher setting.

I never encountered a single trailer in any of those locations. Neither in Muldraugh nor in March Ridge. You can usually find the trailers in the more remoter areas. So not sure how far you travelled but your best bet to get one is going west. Through the farmlands. Another possibility is going east however not towards Lville, (allthough you might be lucky and run into one between WP and Mul) but towards the abandoned campsite. Do a full circle, as in go from the south toward the trainyard from there to the warehouses abandoned campsite (just the road no need to enter the campsite) follow it till the intersection. Then you can either head back to Mul or go west following the road. It is a long quite remote road and has usually about 4-5 vehicle spawns/encounters. Which might give you the chance. IF you follow it through you will get quite near to the pony something community.

edit: Scum saving only works for cells and for (vehicle) event encounter spawns. Not sure trailer spawn has anything to do with it. Allthough there might be one or two trailer related vehicle events. But vehicle events are more like finding the delivery truck with comics and the like.

I usually never messed with trailers. But it seems like the same with everything else: if it’s something you really want or need, it’ll take ages to find. And once you find it, you’ll find 100 more that you don’t need.

Ah well seems I'll just have to savescum my way to a trailer... Just going to have to find a nice, long pathway with plenty of potential accidents to reload the save on... :(

i mean you can also just drive around areas with streets to find one, thats how i usually do it, however as long as i have a good condition car, a trailer isnt all that important to me

That's exactly what I'm planning to do, first storing a manual save and then driving around a large area for a day. If the trailer doesn't spawn I'll just reload that manual save and keep repeating the drive until I get the trailer.

But first I'd like to wait a bit to see if there's a legitimate way of obtaining a trailer that doesn't include taking advantage of manual saves for savescumming.
I always seem to find them on dirt roads attached to wrecked vehicles. You'll likely have to replace the wheels and repair them. I never bother with them.

I haven't bothered with them either until I realized I'm going to have to start hauling stuff across the map. In the vanilla game and with the Organized trait that gives me 120 more trunk capacity for each trip and increases it from 208 (with the Box van) to 328.

PS EDIT: Currently I'm raiding March Ridge and its only saving grace is that pretty much every single house has some firearm and some ammo even on the Apocalypse settings, which will all have to be hauled and stocked (HOARDED) in the main Muldraugh base.

Pray to RNG.

You could always go into -debug mode and spawn a trailer.

Now that's blatantly cheating :)

Who exactly is being cheated?

Also, the OP did not say anything about NOT cheating. And using debug is not much different than 'scrumsaving'.

You can get them in Mul spawn locations, Riverside spawn locations, have trailers.

Just any road can have a trailer really. Except car parks.

id agree with your second part, but the first part is still right, its cheating. it just doesnt hurt anyone but the player himself so if he doesnt want the challenge of "accept what you got and cope with it", then that loss is on him.

The only 'loss' is in YOUR mind.

Games are about fun and it may be that after the first YEAR in the game (as the OP mentioned) the frustration of not finding something you want (thus the post about said problem) makes the game NOT fun.
