what i do to build up the levels from 0 is for the first two weeks actually just fighting zombies, and clearing the area i settle at/getting important stuff in the meantime. thats kinda hard to manage along with the TV shows but otherwise its fine. usually gets me to two strength and one fitness at the end of that time, and then i start with training which will begin with 20 min in the morning and 20 min in the evening and i only do burpees. increase the amount of training if my characters exercise fatigure isnt bad anymore.
with the run im at atm im on default apocalypse options and thats my stats/time survived

and the training regularity is nearly maxed by now

So no skill bonus affects them, neither does fast or slow learning.
Push and stomp give good xp for those, so if you are able instead of excercising you can also engage in HTH against zombies.
Wiki is bad then it shows a 125% boost both in a picture as well as in text, but for sure seems like it remains unaffected by the boost or rather its all flat rated, but kinda annoying that wiki is wrong.
And since the exp gain for both is pretty small each time you gain them, it looks as if the bonus don't apply.
UNFIT (-4 fitness, but disappears when you level fitness to lvl 5)
VERY UNDERWEIGHT (-2 fitness and starting weight of 60 kilos, but you can lose this trait once you hit 75 kilos)
WEAK (-5 strength, but you lose this trait once you level strength to lvl 5)
HIGH THIRST (carry 2 water bottles, problem solved)
HARD OF HEARING (i don't play with my headphones on anyway usually)
WEAK STOMACH (don't eat rotten food, no issue)
SHORT SIGHTED (smaller vision cone, wear regular glasses and you get regular cone)
SLOW READER (if you sit in your house, for the most part except for necessities, to exercise, gain weight and watch TV, why not?)
This give me a total of 47 EXTRA POINTS!!!
burglar gives you 2 in lightfooted, nimble and sneaking so this gets me around surrounding houses to steal their food to sustain me while i exercise and build my weight up the first 2 weeks. cover your windows with curtains and keep your door closed and most zombies will bypass you.
by the time the helicopter event finally finishes, I am ready to kill with hardly any drawbacks. BTW, I play on insane pop and currently playing in louisville.
Yeah, this is probably how i get most of my STR exp too.
Mind you for fitness at least there isn't really a compelling reason to max it out. Once it reaches a level where you can bonk zombies without exhausting yourself you're gold really. Getting by with a strength of less than ten however is pretty excruciating. Yes you can still carry loads of stuff but the way you're slowed down has a real negative impact.
