Build 42 plans to correct character creation exploits?
I wasn't aware there were exploits in character creation, and I'm not sure I see how you could exploit character creation. It's fairly straightforward, you pick a profession and then positive/negative traits.

Could someone enlighten me as to what sort of thing they're correcting?

Balance will be focused around existing mechanics that have been neglected since they were introduced, specifically traits, professions, skills, the medical system, and reducing exploits during character creation, along with loot balancing and more.

hm... my biggest guess would be something like outdoorsman + that trait that makes you more prone to get ill cause outdoorsman negates the negative effect completly and so you gain two points for nothing basically

but other than that i have no idea

wonder if its okay to be fit and underweight. Since underweight is +8 and fit -6, you pay 2 points for +1 fitness. I think its okay, but then u pay off the underweight just eating right. so. +1 fitness was free points.

I think they already made changes to adrenaline junkie. Not sure what the exploit could be.

I've never taken Fit, but I always take Very Underweight because you can just stuff your face and completely remove all the negatives after a while. Basically turns it into a "free" +10 later, at the cost of a tougher start.

I wish temperature was given a point by making chars freeze much easier.
I got maximum coldness settings, which basically turns 75% of the year into Winter, but my char still sweats a lot. Ovens and other warmth sources sadly have no point yet.
That I've never been sick is probably due to the cheap trait indeed, but it's too easy to cloth yourself warm.

Not under all circumstances :3
- Phobias halve gun damage (also decreases melee crit from ~25% to ~20%)
- Overweight ok, if you're experienced, you can outdo the negative effects by surviving for long enough. I can't pick overweight tho, because athletic seems better to me. The 200% endurance loss is pretty dangerous in battles, though. In most multi target battles I go exhausted without already, making me fight very badly, which was my last death cause.
- High thirst is worth it, I agree, it's a max weight malus practically. I need 2 bottles on 2x speed
- Smoker: I would never pick that, because it shares the same debuff icon with the first zombie infection sign, so I wouldn't know
- Slow reader in singleplayer: My settings make it about 150 times as hard to survive by food, so reading is a food investment to me (1 book = 5 meals = 3 houses food = 40 zombies, which again require food to kill and to loot the houses)
- Thin-skinned is basically a direct effect of % chance of death when hit, but yea, I chose it, because I have infection cures and also because I very much specialize on not getting hit
- I pick fast healing instead of slow healing now, because it affects the strength of the initial wound a lot and because when you have one wound, you get the next and the next etc, cause they heavily slow you down and cause death by fighting at 30% attack speed. weak stomach, I agree it's good to take (I do feed on rotten food regularly and it increases my chance to die thereby. reason for this is that I got minimum food drop rate and 2x hunger by 2x game speed)
- non stealth I agree if you don't mind fighting more zombies. Late game I usually call hundreds, so I prefer to have a higher noise radius.

they probably make negative trait actually negative and nerf unemployed, its too OP compared to the rest of profession
H4xX Nov 6, 2023 @ 6:57pm
Basically we pay 8-14 points for about 5 skill levels in 2-3 types. By traits, we pay 4 for 1 of 1 type, so minimum of 12 for 1 in 3 types.
Wouldn't mind 2-4 points to be taken away from unemployed, although if you really need the professions skills, they're slightly better.
Nothing has long blunt, so I picked unemployed.

But I guess I already liked the traits and professions the way they were, cause making things too much as expected or equal means there's nothing to find out about what's the best and just rewards laziness. Merely the 99% disease resistance trait is pretty OP, if you can even catch a disease at all that is. I'm very rarely cold at max coldness setting ^^

I tested with and without the profession 'Lumberjack' and I can say the quicker swing on the axe plus the extra damage is seems to cause (especially to trees) makes me pick that profession every time now. I wade through hoards like a hot knife through butter where without it I have to run backwards a lot more often or I end up swarmed on occasion.
H4xX Nov 6, 2023 @ 7:15pm
The reason I don't pick it is that axes are too scarce, at least at my settings, probably due to zombie amounts.

I find enough axes, but repairing axes is better. Wood glue or duct tape is all you need.
H4xX Nov 6, 2023 @ 7:19pm
8000 zeds per town require approx 80 axes to kill I think and fire stations usually got 2. Barricaded houses have about 2 as well.
I've picked up every axe there is within Rosewood and March Ridge, which sums up to 56 -> 28 axes for 8000 zeds per town. Hum, might work with repeated repairs at high skills.
