Build 42 and build 41
Me and my friends have a server on build 41 right now and we are wondering how much work we are going to put into it. Will build 42 be able to be out into the build 41 game? Or will I need to completely start a new server?

B42 will require a new game, however that shouldn't be an issue for a while and you can always rollback to B41 and finish up.

I see this question a lot. The most likely answer is yes, the servers will likely reset after the new build drops. However, we have no idea when that'll be. There is a good chance that server will be down for a while following the release of Build 42 as it will dramatically change the game and will require server to both reset and update. Being that in a lot of games this is done manually, servers could be down from anywhere between a few hours to a few days even. So it might be best to first play the newest build on a new singleplayer save.

If you're like me, you probably don't play the multiplayer much at all. In my case, I never play it. I'm a mod tester so I spend my time in singleplayer as it's much better for testing. Certain settings are typically different in multiplayer and I need complete control of the setting to properly test the mods. Plus, I don't need to worry about a random death in singleplayer. Whereas in multiplayer, I have to watch my back all the time.

You'll have to start a new server most likely, although you can stay in B41 if for as long as you want when B42 drops. With that being said, I would enjoy the game without worrying about anything if I were you, as there is still plenty of time until the day comes.

Imma be real with you, build 42 will probably take so long unless you plan on doing your server for like another year you'll probably finish it by the time it comes out,

Not that it taking a while is a bad thing, zomboid devs take their time & high quality updates are the norm
