If you're like me, you probably don't play the multiplayer much at all. In my case, I never play it. I'm a mod tester so I spend my time in singleplayer as it's much better for testing. Certain settings are typically different in multiplayer and I need complete control of the setting to properly test the mods. Plus, I don't need to worry about a random death in singleplayer. Whereas in multiplayer, I have to watch my back all the time.
Imma be real with you, build 42 will probably take so long unless you plan on doing your server for like another year you'll probably finish it by the time it comes out,
Not that it taking a while is a bad thing, zomboid devs take their time & high quality updates are the norm
