Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid

why It feels boring to me
I like the game ngl, is one of the best zombie games out there, but playing singleplayer is so.. boring.. I can survive most of the time till I make it to a base, fortify it and that's that? i barely last 3 days playing.

Single player only really appeals to loot bugs; I personally don't have the drive to collect 74 cans of corn. It def needs some NPCs so you can build a town and use the resources you collect. If not, it can get boring real quick. Also, you know, companions.

Add me. I’ll give you an unique game style I’ve been playing

Then the game maybe just isn't for you. You need to be told what to do in order to enjoy a game, which this game doesn't provide.

Maybe try some mods for a goal or something. Horde Night, Darkness is Coming, and Save Our Station combined makes a pretty fun periodical challenge for me.

Was kinda wondering about multiplayer. It kinda feels like it'll be a troll fest though. Dun really wanna play an ironman type game on multiplayer >.>

are there any plans to have new zombie types? Killing the same zombie 1000+ times is incredibly boring.

For other zombie rogue-likes, you have different types to keep the combat fresh. Boomers, necromancers, speed zombies, spitters, tanks. And then zombies can "evolve" over time to be more dangerous types. So the game gets progressively harder as different zombies start evolving, and you're forced to come up with new ways to deal with them.

It is why i stay away as well. Would need to have a few carefull selected playeres, not ones that just shoot your char for shets and giggles.
I prefer cooperation style:P

Wait for the chopper event, that will surprise you, or if you are already able to handle it. Check 1 painful year challenge. Enable respawn and do not use fire to kill zombies. good luck:D

Did I ask for someone to ask me what to do? I have currently around 203 mods installed, I liked the Insurgent mods, but again, it got boring pretty fast, at least to me.

I would certainly love to have npc AI humans, and some colony management mechanics, a game that I burn hours and hours is rimworld, would love at least some npc interactivity in here

I tried superb survivors mod, but well its a buggy mess.

Yep. Past sneaky surviving on salvaged scraps to cower in some hole for night and do it all over again next day game offers little shenanigans. You either accept mostly meaningless stockpiling of loot in barricaded home and go out for hunts any way, hunt for some rare books and tools or ramp items scarcity and zombie difficulty to prolong meaningfull struggle.
Can also do some crusades against hordes into more populated regions.

Not sure what can be done as another zombie types. For one Infection is allready one-shot mechanic so anthing ranged or ambushing will be very random and lethal. If those are 'sterile' mutants which evolved strong but lost infection they could have new moves but normal zombies are allready overpowering. 1 can trip max stats survivior with lucky grab, 2 can drag down and 3 can simply stunlock.
Well I mean... it's the apocalypse. Everyone's dead. No more TV. No more Video Games. No more getting laid. Of course it would be boring!

Devs stated that they were using Romero style zeds, meaning they don't evolve. If you want evolving zoms try CDDA it is also a sandbox survival zombie game (but it's also very hard)

I find the 'different zombie types' schtick pretty cringe-inducing. Back in the day when Resident Evil was new, that was what ultimately turned me off. If something is supposed to be a zombie game, in the style of Night of the Living Dead, then doing anything else just turns it in to a weird mutant hunt.

I don't have anything against somebody making a mod to add their lickers and creepers, but the normal game should just be zombies.

yeah exactly, zombies that shoot plants from their arms, and fungus zombies, and zombies with extra mouths.

Though stuff can be done to add variety. i think it should happen when a skilled player jabs a zombie with a syringe filled with Liquid Steroids. It should take 20 mins to onset, but the zombie should be more alert, faster moving and physically stronger.

Same jab a zombie with a syringe filled with morphine, it becomes slower, forgetful, stupider for a duration of time.

You might ask why. The answer is strategy.

Say you didn't have the firepower to fully raid someone, but you had a couple of these items, you could set up a trap for someone using a temporary runner that you created. Not to mention you could administer these things on yourself. And get correct results with the first aid. anyway Before i write the whole idea out again. I'll leave rest to imagination.

There is also stuff that could be done, with hazard suit zombies, and ones with bullet proof gear and helmets.

Then it isnt a game. Its just a sandbox, I know were getting into technicalities but Games rely on rules and how to win. The ultimate goal is survival, and your character's life is on the line. Dying is essentially losing, so in that sense, the game does tell you what to do: build a shelter, secure it, find food and water, and fend off zombies. The win condition is staying alive. Once you've established a secure base and can survive without immediate threats, you've 'won' in the game's terms. After that is forced gameplay, you are forcing yourself to have a challange that the game does not provide on its own.

After that, There is no more progression. And that is a core thing in every game. And If that progression system is bad, then the game is objectively flawed. Because after establishing a base and you have cans of food to last months and have water from rain barrels. Its done, you are at the top.

Same with fighting the ender dragon with a full set of gear, after beating him. What now? kill more mobs? do the ender dragon again? At least with Minecraft you can build more things and the progression from there is finding necessary blocks to get the house/building you want in your world.

With project zomboid all you can do now is just kill more zombies. But eventually they will just respawn again and you do it all over again.
