Project Zomboid

The problem of skill leveling being too slow is currently set very unreasonably...
Could you please address the issue of these skills gaining experience too slowly, making it extremely difficult to level up?

Sprinting, Lightfooted, Nimble, Sneaking

I've been playing with the default settings for 2 months, and these skills are extremely hard to level up, not even reaching level 4. Many other skills like Carpentry and Medicine have already reached level 10.

However, these skills remain at very low levels. There don't seem to be any books available to speed up the leveling process.

This design makes higher levels almost meaningless because they are simply impossible to attain..

With the mortality rate of player characters, it will be hard to level up all those without mods or taking specific traits and occupations to boost up the xp rate of those skills that have no books.

There is a sandbox option to set "XP Multiplier Affects Passive Skills (Strength & Fitness) that might alleviate some of your pain. It still might not boost it enough to make you happy though, and it isnt for the 4 you specifically mentioned.
isn’t there a mod that just lets you set individual xp multipliers for all the skills?

edit: there is, i found it https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2827283808

hope this helps, op

They are possible to attain- If you live long enough. 2 months of ingame time doesn't even take you into winter, let alone to a full year. Those skills are meant to be passively built up over time, like strength and fitness.

What I mean is real-time, not in-game time. I've been playing for 2 months, and many skills have reached level 10, but those 4 skills are very difficult to level up.

Weapon skills actually have the same issue, but this game doesn't seem to encourage combat.
Just sprint while sneaking. A lot. Watch out for your stamina.

I leveled up on sneaking and nimble on day one.

You can tinker with EXP gain in the sandbox setting. I found 5x to be much more digestible without being to fast to gain but it REALLY helps getting over the arduous grind of early levels.

Not really that slow.
sneaking and lightfoot are problably one of the easiest to skill up, just sneak around larger groups of Zeds... easy

Sprinting: well run.. but yeah it is a little slowerish, but think it should be. can be leveled in the evening and morning before heading out running against a door, not sure if you can do it against a wall though.

Nimble is always rough, always have 1 pts from gymnast trait or occupation. That said one good way is to walk in combat stance until lvl 2 you will get there fairly fast and is plenty to fight with. Combine it with foraging in you early game...

If you wanted to lvl up those quickly you could have always picked up Gymnastycs, Runner or start the game as Burglar, if you didnt pick perks to lvl up then is normal is going to take longer, and also yea with just 2 months in the game ofc u wont have them max lvl yet, after 1 or 2 years surviving you should probably have them maxed out anyways, no need to hurry.

I'd suggest setting increased skill gain in sandbox settings. It sounds like you are in the minority with your dislike of the exp gain on those skills. It's working fine IMO and it looks like most of the opinions on here.

I think it's well-balanced too, these skills take time, as they would in real life. It truly adds to the feeling of progression, to the sense of becoming a tougher survivor over the passing months.

If something is taking too long, just get better at it.

The reason some skills level faster than others is because you're only doing low xp value tasks for some skills. So just focus on doing some higher value things, and you'll level quickly.

The only skill that is a pain to level is metalworking, because propane and things to scrap are rare by comparison to things like electronics, wood, and fabrics.

If you're having trouble finding books, you just need to search book stores and school libraries. I find like 80% of them from the first school I go to.
He specifically mentioned the skills that NO BOOKS exist for. Are you trolling? Did you even read the OP at all?

He deserves some official badge, something like the moderators/admins have, that recognises him as the supreme (and healthy) troll of our community. That dude always manages to make me laugh.

Those skills level faster the more zomboids are around. You will level Nimble for example faster with 10 zombs following you instead of walking agaisnt a wall inside your base.
