Unless, you plan on having a multi-character playthrough, then your stay-at-home characters shouldn't have issues taking those negative traits.
Thx all would it make sense to counter with fit?
-It lowers your Fitness skill's starting value
You can regain this Fitness by exercising or running. It takes a long time.
-Having the trait itself gives you a debuff to varied stats
You can get rid of this debuff by gaining weight. It's not super difficult to regain the weight at the beginning.
The combination of those two factors will give you a slightly harder start, but the points are pretty lucrative if you can make it in the long run.
If you want to take the trait I'd say take Fitness into the negatives. The bonus XP for having points doesn't currently do anything for Passives so you just start at a certain level and it doesn't take super long to get to 1. You could have a few extra points instead!
Do not get Asthmatic.
Find a playstyle that works for you. I'm finding the value in actually starting with Fitness and Strength now and making up for it with other negatives (or taking fewer positives)
If you wanna go big, do Obese which is 10pts and then take Fit and do the same- Same net positive of 4 pts, and even longer to just stock away food.
Doing it with overweight/obese though means you need to bank on getting a generator and the magazine early enough that you can cope with, And overall you need a pretty good idea of what to eat and when so you don't let a lot of food rot.
Each tactic has it's ups and downs. Personally I prefer going overweight/obese between the two- The reduced damage from very underweight drives me batty, Rather deal with lower stamina and pick and choose my fights more carefully than have to fight the same zombie for an hour.
The problem with going it the other way is that unlike lower weight traits, Overweight and Obese both exclude Fit, so there's no way to compensate for the loss of Fitness, and it takes a fairly long time to train it up. Otherwise, yeah, it's even easier to lose weight than to gain it.
I did do some adjustment taking fitness and strength to lvl 3 so i can level up faster, first tried with lvl 0 not realizing that there is a bonus to strenght and fitness lvl boost just as with any other skill. Still learning but i am getting the hang of it :-) but damn those first tries was rough, as the vikings said "a good death" not sure my character agrees though :-)
