What does the panic moddle do?
I've seen people saying it only affects aim and it's a meme moddle, and I've seen people saying quite the opposite, saying the panic moddle it's really a big of a deal and the brave trait it's the best. After all, what does it do? Is the brave trait really that good?

It’s not that big a deal
With shotgun in hand it’s not a big deal at all. I don’t know if type of weapon used speeds up panic reduction but blasting down 4 zombies quickly removes panic.

For smaller guns however panic can cause frequent jamming. You’ll notice this with a JS2000 but can still chug through
Your character may not automatically rack either. For melee weapons i am not certain but is tie it in with knock down. Though it’s possible durability takes a hit.

I think panic is also increasing the noise you make making you look conspicuous aswell, id also assume you have higher injury from trees and fences if tripping over or running through them.

It’s possible the car stalls aswell

Panic reduces your melee damage, crit chance, reduces your accuracy with guns and also, apparently, narrows your vision cone and reduces knockback chance.

Whether brave trait is a requirement depends on your playstyle and occupation.

I will just advise everyone to make a backup save. Then go gather a few hundreds zeds in a large mob, and try to "fight them" with guns, melee your choice. Why such a huge mob? So that the cone reduction and all the other stuff becomes noticeable. Once you reach the last stage of panic even a shotgun is not really a solution. (You will hit enemies, but the damage you do to them is negligeble. It is why the conga line trick is used this time too. You walk ahead until panic reduces, turn back fast, shoot, get high panic within a second, turn back. Rinse and repeat. Even on level 4-5 shooting you might often need 2 shots with a shotgun to kill a single zombie when max panicked.)

Beta blockers are very helpful when panic becomes a problem if you have them. You will also not get panicked as quickly as you kill more and more zombies so the brave trait isn't really necessary unless you are playing with very high zombie count at the beginning of the game.
