eventually that will level your spear skill which makes them break less but so does the maintenance skill
you can use tape and glue to repair things as well
adhesive tape and school glue are weak, duct tape and wood glue are strong
once your maintenance and spear skill is high they will not break and one shot zombies in the head on a thrust 99% of the time
edit : carry like 4 spears at once, don' bother putting knives on them just yet (you can tho it's cool and does more damage so might as well also knives and string tape ripped cloth etc are all over the place)
Should i threw the broken Spear away and just make a new one or should i repair them ?
Andi think i can detache the "knife" or"scissor" or whatever after the spear is broken right ?
when i use a spear for fishing, is it important to use one with a attachement? or just the pure Spear?
Pure spears work just fine for spear fishing.
Use a crowbar, it works well.
Threw them never repair a spear, NEVER.
Also your maintenance and carpentry skills affect the spear keep that in mind. You can also attach items you would think is not worth it but it increases the damage and if it breaks just remove the attachment and put another. Good use for spare butter knifes, letter openers etc...
As a bonus you can use a gardening fork to level up, works as spear and quite good durability. These you can repair without hesitation
They're quick to break, so you need to carry a lot of spares.
I've used them a while so here are my findings:
1) carry a lot of spare spears since they break easily, especially at low levels
2) good carpenters make good spears, so get good at carpentry
3) repairing spears isn't worth it
4) when a spear with attachment breaks you can get the spear back but not the attached item
5) weak items like letter openers, forks, etc. boost the damage of spears too little to be worth the duct tape
6) attaching an item at low spearing skill level also seems to result in a damaged spear, even if the item had full durability (so keep machetes for later)
7) as such attaching an item at low levels is only worth it if you need to conserve wood, i.e. when getting branches is difficult
And yes, spear with a hunting knife is a best melee weapon in terms of zed killed per minute (aside from rare ones - Katana and Pickaxe for Lumberjack).
Not keep machetes. Use them here and now - without spear. Machete-on-spear was nerfed hard (while machete on it's own is awesome).
See the word machete as a placeholder for any worthwhile item that can be attached to spears.
Attaching them at low skill levels just wastes a lot of durability.
