Project Zomboid

Normal termination problem
Hi, I'm very embarassed to be another random guy needing help with this issue but even with 2 hours of reading and searching, I couldn't find anything to solve my problem. So when I launch the game in solo it works just fine (even if a bit laggy despite my relatively good computer, but I have a LOT of mods and maps). But when I try to locally host the server with the same mods/maps, it shows "Normal termination" without launching the server. I allocated 16Gb of ram, tried with default and modified sandbox settings and tried to delete the "multiplayer" folder (in User/Me/Zomboid/Saves).

I hope someone will be able to help me, whoever read this, I wish you a good night and hope you'll find my issue.

I had this issue before on an on-going server. I duplicated the server config and then it worked fine for some reason. You can also try creating a vanilla config and check if it launches normally

Usually when trying to troubleshoot and not having much success, try and start from square zero. that is default config, zero mods in this case.. Then start making modifications to the config and finally start adding mods until something breaks. At that point you need to determine if there is a conflict between 2 or more mods, or if a mod itself is broken.

Good luck.

From what I've seen so far, this error is commonly related to mod problem.
Aside from what the others have said above, pay attention to the load order as well.
If I recall, there's an MP version of Mod Manager mod that could help you dealing with the load order.

Just to be safe, try disabling and unsubbing all of your local mods as well, and let the server re-download the mods that are needed. And if that still doesn't work, make sure there's no leftover files stuck in the workshop folder or in the \Zomboid\Mods\ folder.

I'll test that, thanks !

It's what I was thinking about but I have more than 100 mods so I'm not that enthusiast to test them one by one... But it may be the only solution, but I'll wait a bit because on the indie stone site a developper may be able to help me

I already have that mod but I don't know what order I need to put the mods.
And I've already done your second advice unfortunately

Pretty sure mod manager will do the load ordering for you. But then again, I never hosted an MP server, so I can only relay what I remember other people have said.

Maybe try removing map mods if you have any of them, they usually can create conflict if you aren't sure what you are doing. Mods that add objects can also create some issue, like weapon, car, and clothing mods. Just try starting simple with small QoL mods like Minimal Display Bar, Weapon Condition Indicator, what have you.

Also, you can try posting your error log to pastebin or the log file to temporary file hosting site like filetransfer.io. Usually you'll be asked to do that by the devs' tech support team. I think MP server's logs are also stored in console.txt?

Ok I'll test that tomorrow, and the dev team hasn't asked me that yet unfortunately, I'll try their troubleshooting and yours asap !
Have a nice evening !
