if you repeat this at me then I'm assuming your not helping
how do I get infected from a wound hours after I got it? And I mean real world hours, not in game. In game was probably days....
then poof, dead within three minutes, like really fast bro
I thought you meant in-game hours
On default setting, scratch and laceration caused by zombies have a chance to kill you. 7% on scratch, 25% on laceration.
And by default the infection takes 2-3 days to kill you.
Corpse sickness is also possible, since you only said you killed the zombies, not removing their bodies or being somewhere far from the pile of corpses.
Other possibilities are food poisoning or mods.
How do you know you were not infected? If BITTEN, you know. you are doomed to die. but the other zombie wounds have no moodle or wound tell. Did you load in -debug to see your zombie infection counter or look at your "Is Infected" tag?
zombie infection has no moodle. you have a percentage chance to get infected. it is calculated at the time of the wound. if you failed the hidden roll, you get an immediate invisible infected timer.
do you know the the infection set in rate in the game code? default it is 2-3 days. That's right. if you are scratched or lacerated by a zombie AND you became infected from that wound, sometimes your wound can even totally heal, then you die from zombie virus.
If you dont like that, you may change it in the sandbox settings.
I for one, dont like waiting 2-3 (in game) days to lean i was doomed. SO i set my sandbox infection set in rate down to 0-12 hours.
Now with my new setting, if i get zombie wound, i will know with 12 hours if i am going to die.
Also if you dont like the game, it is okay not to play ever again.
If you do like it, and are momentarily raged and frustrated, walking away for a cool down period is totally fine. I have had many rage quits and frustrations in my early hours of zomboid.
xD you WERE infected.
The wound didn't say infected on it? Doesn't matter, that has nothing to do with the zombie virus, that means you didn't have a bacterial infection aka sepsis.
There's no way of telling if you were infected by the zombie virus until you die a few hours/days later depending on your settings and then you rise as a zombie.
Did your character turn into a zombie afterwards?
Classic wound infection has a tag on your health panel.
Zombie infection don't has tag, only moodlets hints it. You can get zedification from any zombie inflicted wounds (scratch 7%).
Zombification kills you after some in-game days (already forgot the defaults, sry).
Also. Mods (if you have any) can break the game easily.
Went ahead and made another character to find myself. Dead on the flow, not a zombie. I REPEAT, NOT A ZOMBIE.
That's what I was gonna ask if you turned or not.
Since you didn't heres a couple things:
1.Did you have corpses close to you/your base? If yes you depeloved fever that eventually kills you. You need to remove the corpses from your surroundings or move away until feeling better.
2. Were you hot/had to much clothes on? Heat can kill you eventually.
3.Did you mix drugs and alcohol? That combo kills out of nowhere
4.Mods?
