Generator in Car, can't find any information about this.
Tons of information about generators, but nothing on the specific actions you have to do to get it in the car. Apparently it can't go in the trunk? Apparently it has to go in the passenger seat? How? If I pick up the generator, enter the passenger seat, drop the generator, it falls through the car. How do you get the generator in the car EXACTLY please.

I usually put it in the seat. It will show as red as if it can't fit there, but it does. When you are in your vehicle just drag it to one of the seat containers on the right side loot window. Larger vehicles can fit it in the trunk if their trunk isn't damaged too bad. Trunk damage affects storage capacity.

Why can't it go in the trunk? I never had a problem with it. Walk up to the truckbed (maybe that's the difference, I always used pickups?), right click on the generator you are holding and select "put in container".
A big enough trunk can hold multiple generators, and each seat can hold a single item of large size or multiple up to it's capacity (aka every seat can hold a generator or fridge or similar). you have to specifically put the item into the seat.

Thank you so much. This seems so obvious to me now. Got it in the trunk just fine
If the generator can't fit in the trunk, it's because generators are huge and take up 40 units of space. The reason people say to put it in the seat is because seats can hold one giant item, no matter how huge it is, as long as it's one item. That's why people use high-capacity backpacks to store more stuff in car seats.

One of those neat things about the container system. You can occasionally over-stuff a container as long as it is a single non-container item in an empty container. Also works for stoves and furniture pieces.

A generator has 40 encumbrance, so you need enough space in the trunk for that. Just drag the generator from your equipped section to the trunk tab. Generator is the only item like this funnily enough.

Or, you can just drive while carrying it.

Antique stove is also 40 encumbrance IIRC. I know I usually have to stick it in a seat anyway.

Can you even do that? Pretty sure car seats only have 20 encumbrance limit.

Seats can hold a single item that is beyond their normal capacity as has been mentioned multiple times in this thread.
