Best base in Rosewood?
After recent updates, there are far too many zombies in the rural house I used to live in. Is there any good bases in Rosewood that aren't to far from the town, but aren't swarmed with zombies? Thank you in advance :spiffo:

The house just north of the southern lake is a good location. It's close enough to everything to walk, but also far enough away to lose most agro driving back.

You don't have to barricade to secure your home in Zomboid. You secure your home area by patrolling daily and killing all the zombies in the surrounding area.

Go north passed the gas station, go through the intersection, then take the first driveway on your left. Long driveway, decent house with an area to farm. Has a shed and nothing but wilderness around. I always go here.

the fire station often has several axes and crowbars and it's a REALLY good base...
Honestly this is entirely up to how the person operates. I have based up in the fire station one time in all of my 1400 hours and it was nothing except a horrible experience for me. The layout is a pain to work with organizing everything and it's far too large with way too many entrances, fencing or not. It remains the only base I have ever had to flee which really says something because my first month long survival, I lived in downtown West Point in the general store northwest of the police station.
The place being right next to a main road is the biggest problem. You can pretty much wall off the hallway next to the stairs and only keep the garage area safe. But keeping the outdoors safe is another problem in itself. The place isn't big enough for generator sound to be out of range from the fences. So once you start using one, you'll constantly attract wandering zombies.

you could make the same argument for any base though. they all have their pros and cons, and the best choice really depends on what you value the most in a base.

to me, the fire station is a good choice because it's mostly fenced off already, has lots of space to work with (which is especially useful for claustrophobic characters) and is reasonably close to both a gas station and a lake.

is it a perfect base? of course not, but what base IS perfect? like I said, the best base depends on your own needs and your own playstyle.

in my first long-ish term playthrough I had that problem for a while, but eventually zombies just stopped coming. I DID spend a lot of time around there though so that might be why.

The drive-in is one of my fave bases. Lots of parking space to collect wrecks and the projector room is kinda cosy.

This mod adds a new building that would also make a good base on the outskirts.

Well, this place is technically not in Rosewood, but it's near enough. There's this small farm NW of of gast station and it has this huge warehouse nearby. Unfortunately sledge is required to clear up the ground floor. Otherwise it has everything you need: plenty of farming space, forrest is rather nearby so easy trapping, it's very close to Rosewood (and gas station) and it's very secure (sure, you'll get tourists that wondered from the road now and again, but it's so rare that all you need to do is to build 2nd floor and make balcony).

Ive got literally one of the best bases in the map at Rosewood. The walled off construction sites are perfect to a point of being almost over powered. There is one just next to Rosewood in the south.
its a short walk to the Firestation too.

There is sooooo much wood and logs there, ready to big walls and build up that fort.
