Difference between speed types?

Obviously, sprinters sprint, but what's the difference between Zomboid lore's 'Fast Shamblers' and the more classically described 'Shamblers'? I've tried both, and cannot quite see the difference. This might be because I play modded and something is screwing up Shamblers and making them still act like Fast Shamblers - so what is the actual difference? They still do the little lunge when you get close, and seem to still do the faster 'hobbling' animations that FS will do rather than just the slower walking animations. I've looked on other places and even tested myself in sandbox and I'm just not seeing a significant enough difference to notice or a actual described difference other than name.

Shamblers are the slow Romero kind of zombies and fast shamblers are like those but a tad bit faster (think of a power-walk).

Are shamblers still meant to lunge when near humans? I've seen them doing this when trying to test what the supposed difference is - I understand the intended difference but they seem identical to me and I'm not sure whether they're broken for me or it's just a less noticeable difference.

It's hard to tell without a side-by-side comparison, but I think shamblers' shuffling walk is slower than fast shamblers. That's all.

yes shamblers will still lunge and move at 'fast shambler' speeds whilst doing that.

the major difference is that when not in lunging range, shamblers move much slower than fast shamblers. fast shamblers move at the same speed whether they're lunging or not.
