Project Zomboid

Fun challenges or things to do?
What are things to do after you have built up a base and have everything you need to survive for a long time? I am thinking of starting a new save possibly or continuing this save if I can find some new things to strive for and do.

If it's single player, not much. If it's multiplayer on the other hand then looking for ways to mess around with other players, in a way that's fun for everyone of course, is a personal favourite.

Case in point : Mannequins. If it's allowed by mods I'll craft as many as I can and go around the map sticking them at the top of staircases to say hello to unsuspecting visitors. If I can't craft them I keep an eye open for any I can grab, although that's less satisfying.

Another thing is sealing shut from the outside spawn houses. This one actually got me in a bit of trouble, but since it IS possible for new players to break out just by expending a bit of time and energy it didn't seem that bad. Plus I even thoughtfully fill the fridges with bleach in case they don't feel like bothering to go outside. From time to time I'll peek inside through the barricades to look for fresh corpses.

At an absolute minimum it's always nice to collect the keyrings from dead players. Fill up a drawer with them and turn it into a kind of friendly memorial.

Download the 10 years later, barricaded world and worse vehicle condition mod. Download the solar array mod and make it a goal to power your whole base on solar.

I also set nights to pitch black so flashlights are required, pop on high-insane depending how you're feeling. Insanely rare loot and cold/rainy world. Makes the game feel much more apocalyptic and refreshed it for me. You could also play with sprinters.

Well, I don't recommend going on a reckless shooting spree in a place you had previously set off an alarm.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2946677839 And then you fat-finger it and run straight into the hoard

Sleep during the day and loot at night, makes the game significantly more challenging.

Take over a nice little place, and then building sky bridges, connect to other parts of the town until eventually, you can cut yourself off, and never even have to touch the ground again.
