Gas Stations - Refill propane tanks
Is there a way in the vanilla game to refill propane tanks? Generally, we used to do this at a gas station back in the 90s; that or we'd swap tanks at a Gas Station/Convenience store. It takes so much propane to build a fence, and there seem to only be a finite number of barbecues available, not to mention any propane trucks (at least not that I've seen).

Nice, thank you. One of those mods I didn't even know I needed until I saw it.

Thank You; but I specifically asked about vanilla (no mods).
Mods or bust on this one. Torches should be refillable from propane tanks but no other sources exist.

Well, tbr propane is available at gas stations, that is true, but refilling the torch directly from the gas station is ridiculous

indeed it is, refilling from the pump.

You'd be better of making a propane transport vehicle, with a huge supply, and maybe one of those can spawn at a gas station.

Don't think too deeply about it. This is just a workaround because the devs haven't implemented any realistic sources where you'd refill propane tanks. Hopefully "yet".

Realistically, you should be finding things like this in rural areas:

Why cant we go underground and tap into the gas network, whats the difference between cooking gas from inside a gas oven and hob, and propane?

Maybe we can get this stuff underground. Or by making a special tool to connect to a gas oven. IDK ;)

Propane is a specific component, natural gas is a mix of a bunch of different combustible gases. Propane is more energy-dense, so used for mobile applications. NG is cheaper.

The reason you won't be able to get gas from the underground pipe network after some time is that the infrastructure that ensures pressure in those pipes won't last for too long, just like water and power.

But there should be enough places that have reservoirs of the stuff around to last us a long time. The picture I posted earlier is a residential tank used for home heating. They aren't uncommon in rural US where gas pipe network doesn't reach. People get a gas tanker truck come by periodically to fill it up. Just one of these should be enough for you for months.

oh thats interesting, how about the gas taps from a schools science lab?

No idea about those. Could be they are hooked up to the underground gas pipe network, which would make it natural gas. If it's connected to a gas cylinder, then it's most likely propane.

If I was designing it, I'd not have it hooked up to the gas network with its limitless supply, because kids and unlimited energy supply doesn't sound like a good combination. :)

Natural gas doesn't compress without extreme cold temperatures as it doesn't have a natural dipole. No propane tank could withstand the pressures required to liquify methane.

KI5 and Filibuster Rhymes have propane transport trucks. They list prereq mods to make the propane accessible. This is the most realistic source of propane if hitting up all the gas grills isn't doing it for you. In RL, you'd definitely find propane tanks at a lot of the farms. Plumbed well water too.

I guess you missed the memo...they're talking about refilling LPG (liquid PROPANE gas) tanks with...LPG. No one mentioned liquefying methane but you.
