How many zombies are there in this game?

So I start my own world long ago with a few addon cites after a few deaths because it was my first time I go to Riverside first now I killed many many zombies and got to the police station and got lots of weapons so I decided to make the city mine and own it Intel the whole place is out of food. So I wipe the main streets and some other ones along the way. So sadly I died so I came back and took out some more but every time theirs just more and more in the main streets no matter how many I shoot. So can anyone estimate how many zombies are in this game for that I know how screwed I am?

A lot. Depending on the spawn multiplier and timer. But each game cell has their own population cap. I think a thousand-ish is the limit for each cell.

Assuming default settings and no respawns/not counting respawns, and not counting Louisville, You're looking at about 52,000 zombies across the entire map, mostly centered on cities.

Louisville adds nearly 25-30k all on it's own, for a total of around 75,000-80,000 zombies. Ish.

Oh, and, there's about 2100~ of them in riverside specifically. Again, ish. Many zombies.

Way more than twice as many zombies as there are places for them when they were living making the lore very strange.

Getting the ammo from the police station and then clearing riverside is probably too much to take on in one go. At a guess zombies outnumber bullets on standard settings. If you want to clear riverside, set up a base, loot the police station, hardware store, gunshop and the big warehouse on the edge of town and then get to work. As others have said, you're looking at killing a couple of thousand to complete the job.
