Absolutely. I can cope with no children zombies, but at least be creative and tell us a lore reason why there aren't any around. Makes no sense as it is.
Game: Dying Light
Show: The Walking Dead
Bioware got around having killable infants and children by turning them into exploding grub monsters and screeching claw monsters respectively. They don't resemble children enough to be considered "human children" by the laws that go about that.
Zombies on the other hand tend to resemble humans a lot more to begin with.
I personally think those laws are stupid in favor of artistic liberty, but not meddling with it entirely avoids any backlash or legal issues.
Since this game is trying to be the most sensible and realistic (or at least immersive) of most of the zombie apocalypse games out there, it is definitely a shame not to see child zombies or even some horrifying baby zombies stuck in cribs just flailing around impotently, but I can understand why the devs won't add that, mostly because of controversial reasons.
Still, playing RimWorld recently and mowing down entire raids comprised of children, capturing the survivors and ripping their organs out to sell on the black market before butchering them into kibble and human leather makes me scratch my head, they don't seem to get constant amounts of flak about having that as an option (they even have a toggle option to disable children entirely in the game settings, which Zomboid could have too)
We'll need kids at some point, because they represent the future of humanity, and the devs have stated they're aiming for a post-apocalyptic survival community thing, right? I guess they could still roll with "kids just die and don't reanimate" or whatever, but that still won't stop watching human kids potentially getting hit by cars, set on fire, dying of thirst, mauled to death or having their head bashed into rice pudding and jam with a sledgehammer, right?
Not unless they just skip over kids entirely, but that's lame. The drama of protecting a female and pregnant member of the community or trying to find materials or resources to learn how to safely deliver a baby, and then caring for the baby in the midst of a zombie apocalypse? Awesome stuff! That's where true stories and tales worth telling are made from, pure drama and such. Don't you want to see a scenario like Clementine and Lee reimagined in Project Zomboid style? It'd be awesome.
I probably sound like a psychopath lol but I swear I'm not, I just have a decent imagination and no qualms about anything to go with it...just sayin' - if we're going down the route of building our own community with NPC survivors entering a quasi-medieval age of technology and trading with other NPC communities, then children should be a part of it.
But yeah boring ass laws and controversy will probably stop that from ever becoming a thing, I guess. Can't have someone who probably won't ever play the game start thinking it's training a new generation of child murderers or something
