Question about the usefulness of unhappiness.
Is panic hard countered by unhappiness reducing foods like junk food and fruits? Otherwise I'm not sure what the purpose is of unhappiness, other than for roleplay purposes. It seems like a redundant moodlet system.

Unhappiness makes your character's timed actions slower, such as transferring items from one container to another. The sadder your character is, the longest they take to finish these actions.

Panic can only be "countered" by playing as Veteran, having Brave trait, surviving for 2 months, and/or Beta Blockers.

How do you know? I've never seen that mentioned anywhere. The wiki said it does nothing, unless its been changed last I checked.

When was the last time you checked the wiki? A decade ago?

https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Moodles#Unhappy
A character may become unhappy if subjected to prolonged boredom, stress, or consumes certain food items. Unhappiness makes all timed actions take longer: equipping weapons, transferring items, crafting, construction and so on.
This moodle can be combatted by reading certain items of literature, eating food that increases happiness like most sweets, Soups, Strawberries, drinking alcohol, or by taking anti-depressants.
Once NPCs (Legacy) survivors are re-implemented, talking to them might also help with unhappiness.

Feeling a little sad
"Find a way to raise your mood."
Timed actions slowed by ~7.4%.
Occurs when unhappiness is above 20%.
Getting a tad weepy
"Seek some excitement or human contact."
Timed actions slowed by ~13.7%.
Occurs when unhappiness is above 45%.
Depressed
"Ravaged by mourning and desperation."
Timed actions slowed by ~19.6%.
Occurs when unhappiness is above 60%.
Severely Depressed
"Find a way to forget reality."
Timed actions slowed by ~26.5%.
Occurs when unhappiness is above 80%.

Also you can tell just by being unhappy in game- It makes a surprisingly huge difference even with just a level or two.

Yes, those are the common ways, but I've never thought about if unhappiness effects panic specifically. It would make sense in my mind, but doesn't mean it does. To me it would add functionality to junk foods. I want to eat them, because I like the idea of a candy hoarding playthrough, but they serve no purpose for me to want to make other than to satisfy hunger, which other foods do better.

I actually checked a few months ago, but it was the moodlet page. Which might explain the discrepency, unless they've both been changed since.

What I just linked is the moodleS page; Just directly linked to the unhappiness section. There's never been a moodleT page on the PZ wiki to my knowledge; And the moodles page as far back as a year ago shows that unhappiness has an effect.. So I'm not quite sure what page you saw.

I don't know. Either my memory is shot or it was changed, because I added moodle info to one of my guides and used that page to do so, and afair it had no purpose other than barely lowering a trait so miniscule it hardly effected anything.

Depression reduced weapon draw speed. The speed that you switch from holster to back or holster to holster
