Current longest playthrough?
For me I just hit 4 months, and I'm really happy over it. And he's not dead yet!

What about you?

I think I made two weeks before I just got bored.

Lasted a couple months, realized I'm playing the most boring game ever, grabbed all my guns and molotovs, went to nearest populated area, died to self-immolation once I ran out of ammo, haven't played since.

Longest I went was 4 months. Didn't die; what happened was I had spent 2 months building a massive road network across the Ohio River and then found out all my hard work was wasted because Gravel doesn't block tree growth. As a result I just rage quitted the save

Literally had Bridges across the River at Riverside, Westpoint, Westpoint Lake homes, and Valley station with an entire road of gravel between them that was 6 tiles wide the whole length!

4-6 i cant remember. I am going for the break of my all time record lately. Since game has changed considerably since i did such a long run as that. My current run is pretty long. Though i have survived longer in MP. for SP and default settings just clicking Apocalypse mode and starting up. i am on a pretty long legit run. But its not an impressive length of time yet. As long as we see winter, maybe reach spring the run is impressive.
Close to year and a half currently.

Probably a few months - usually stop from boredom rather than death.
If you know what you're doing, you play with a sensible/cautious approach, and you don't have some really bad luck - then generally it's not hard to survive.

Two years over a few dead survivors. The longest for a single survivor is 2 months. But I'm playing in easy mode.

That's my favorite reason ever for quitting. I spent all summer in game setting up base with the plan of tearing down the house next door to cultivate a farm plot. Finally found the Sledgehammer and quickly realized it doesn't work like that. :steamfacepalm:

For years IRL, I couldn't make it past August. I would inevitably get reckless or greedy and f@#k up. At some moment things just clicked. Somewhere between pure WASD muscle memory and accepting my limitations, I managed to survive for a full year. As an anniversary celebration, I hit the road on July 12, 1994 with a trailer full of guns and ammo and went to a gas station on the edge of town where I had set off an alarm. I was doing pretty good until I took my hand off the KB for a second to F12 a screenshot and fat-fingered my way right into the horde! :steamsad:
I survived 23 days before I got cocky and got bit.
I survived 5 days in the CDDA challenge too, got surrounded trying to scavenge a burnt house
Month and a half. Before that it was one month. Most of my games I died within a few game hours. My longest game I died because I got to close to my camp fire and caught fire and burned to death.

I forget, but I made it a while, not to winter, as I just got bored as one other pointed out, there was no real reason to leave my base. Other then to find stuff to add to it.

I was safe, the only reason to go outside, was because I was bored. Really can not wait for npc's. Just to add something. Pretty sure I could have survived winter if I kept playing but not 100% as I did not do it, as I was like, its more fun to start from scratch, then sit here and do nothing, but farm, drive out once and awhile for gas.

You really need to find your own reason for going out after your base is secure, some sort of quests, or something. Like I know there is a finding the cure mod, something like that even if its a false hope, but a reason to go out. Other then well see how many zeds I can kill today.

Also there is the combat, though I am ok at it no pro, there are times, I would go to back up and my guy would spin around instead , then I get bit in the back. The worst thing in this game, is getting hit in the back, I swear 95% of the time its a bite, no matter what you are wearing.

But I have not also played in awhile, when animal update comes, will play that for a bit. Curious to see how having a farm of animals mooing, baaing (sheep) noise attracks zeds.
