Project Zomboid

So anyone thought of this yet? Plan on making a skybridge from city to city.
How much wood does anyone think it might take and does the map actually have enough wood to link all the cities to one another using a skybridge. I figure it's one of the few things that will be a true end goal.

Does the map have enough wood? Yes, Absolutely. There is so much forest on the map I'm pretty sure you could pimp your skyway out to be a good 5-7 tiles wide with walls.

Nails, on the other hand.... Might be a bit harder to come by.

To answer your query of an estimate/how much it might take:
Muldraugh Southern Gas station
Coordinates: 10650x10650

Rosewood Northern Gas Station
Coordinates: 8150x11275

This is a difference of
2500 in one direction and 625 in the other.

Meaning to make the trip from one to the other by a sky bridge, you'd need to make about 3125 floor tiles, which since iircc floors take 1 plank and 1 nail, would mean you would need 3125~ planks and 3125~ nails to go from the southern tip of muldraugh to the northern tip of rosewood. Ish.

Based on that, I'd wager a grand total of 25,000-40,000 wood and an equal amount of nails for the entire project to connect you to every major city.
Dam so its the nails that would really be the issue now I kinda hope the new part of the map will be nail city lol. I was thinking of doing the skybridge method as a way to really restrict the idea of using cars since once you get a car up and running you tend to be good on everything from basing to supplies. What are end goals for you guys in game when you have set up pretty much everything else? I tend to clear out rosewood first and then branch out into the other towns setting up a base in each of the cities as I move through.

I'm an incorrigible hoarder; I set up base wherever I feel like it, then I ferry everything back to my base. I don't make forward bases, I go out with a big truck and trailer and cart things home, systematically looting city by city and growing my stockpile; If I ever overfill my coffers, I'll find some silly task to splurge on like building a metal fort or a wooden stadium, then go loot more.

I still haven't reached and survived my first winter though. So. I should prolly focus on that more than greedy greedy looting. :winter2019joyfultearsyul:

There would also be the issue of hauling all the wood up to the skybridge and walking it to the end. This would quickly become incredibly tedious and if you stuck it out long enough you would be walking for days back and forth. You would also exhaust the supply of trees near the beginning of the skybridge and have to go further and further just to harvest the wood.
Well end game goal is meant to take a lot of time. And I tend to set up forward bases due to how I inventory everything before going out to loot again. I also have my crates set up on the first floor meanwhile second floor for sleeping simply because zombies cant get to the second floor easily.

Would be nice if you could get a car up there

I made a skybridge throughout most of riverside, and that took forever. Linking the cities together? oh lord.

Nails shouldn't be an issue either if you have respawning zombies. Those worker zombies you tend to find in places like McCoy can carry nails in their inventory. It'll take a long ass time to do this, but resources needed for this challenge are nigh infinite.

Large scale infrastructure projects can be pretty enjoyable actually, although I play in modded multiplayer servers (with anti-grief settings so nobody can wreck my efforts). Once I completely enclosed a lake so it was indoors and I could get bored fishing. Just like the real thing!
