Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid

Which one is the Intended playstyle?
Just starting project zomboid and was wondering which playstyle I should choose for the optimal Project Zomboid experience. Playstyle meaning the options I get when I wanna start a new game such as Survivor etc.

Many people tend to suggest some sort of burglar build as a character to learn the game with because it makes it easier to find a working car. I would suggest taking organized, outdoorsman, cat eye, and keen hearing as some helpful positive traits.
Oh I just meant at the beginning when they ask you the playstyles options such as survivor etc.

Survivor is probably the best
not too hard like apocalypse and not too easy
loot is balanced (except if you use any brita mods cause they are extremly overpowered)

The officially intended default playstyle is Apocalypse. Survivor is for peeps who don't like that so much, and Builder is for people who just want a casual experience where you're likely to survive long enough to need the extra suppiles and build something big and cool.

Personally, when I started out, I downed it to Survivor and didn't have much trouble learning the ropes. After I got my feet under me, I felt it was too easy and went to Apocalypse and later have gradually ramped the difficulty up even more.

in my own personal opinion, if you are playing solo then you need to be built like a badass. High strength, high fitness, no disadvantages that make you vulnerable to combat. A dedicated engineer, or carpenter, or doctor is more of a group dynamic character and is going to have a rough time if it's up to them to bash all the heads in. As long as you find the skill books, it's not hard to level up the crafting skills with no bonuses at all.

edit: Oh you mean game difficulty... yeah start with Survivor and when you know the systems go to Apoc.

Since you are new, I'd suggest you go to sandbox mode and among the existing templates, pick The Initial Infection. That setting is basically tutorial mode set in the actual game world, separate from the Tutorial menu.

Once you are more confident, you can pick whichever mode you want. With Apocalypse being the "standard" setting.

I'd do survivor

Depends, do you think you're generally good at video games? Give apocalypse a shot. Worse comes to worse you die and start a new game on survivor or builder.

You will die anyways so it doesn't really matter.

Here's my 2 cents: don't start with survivor. Apocalypse is hard, yes; but that's the point. Your first 10 or so characters won't see the first week through, so don't get too attached. Try apocalypse and get used to the melee combat, since it's much more difficult. Learn how to herd and escape zombies. Make yourself a couple of burglar characters so that you get access to cars early and start exploring. Once you can make it 10 or so days consistently you're basically ready for anything.

There is no intended play style and each one is still hard but they just have a different focus. Apocalypse requires more of a stealth play style, Survivor is more combat focused and Builder is pretty obvious, but none of these options are easier or harder really as they all maintain the challenge of the game regardless. I think the issue is that many think of these as difficulty options, but that's not quite right. It's just deciding how you want to play the game. Play whatever you want though.
