Indoors and outdoors have different ambient lighting and sounds from outside should be muffled, so it's quick to check.
Here a quick video on it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJ6KN3C9S18
I tried to check ambient sounds, but I wasn't sure so I placed a police vehicle next to it, turned on the siren and after walking past the doorframe, I believe the noise was slightly muffled. Not sure though. And about the lightning, I didn't notice any difference between inside and outside.
In case the shack doesn't count as "inside", how can I check where is the hole so I can enclose the building?
I placed a Large Industrial Sink under one of the eight tiles around the collector, didn't work either.
I know that "I believe" and "I think" doesn't sound very scientific, but I haven't checked either of these things myself. I hope I'm not wasting your time.
Edit: video showing the debug tool: https://youtu.be/TbvAJmf9Lg4?t=52
For a room to be considered indoors it requires walls on all four sides and a complete roof.
I've heard using the corner tiles can confuse the algorithm, so if you have build some try to remove them.
Even wooden frames count as walls, so you can try to build a one tile room (4 wooden frames, one tile on top) and then compare outside and inside if there's a difference in ambient lighting and sound.
That did it! I used the tool and it happened one of my doorframes didn't count as a wall for some reason. I placed a door, removed door and doorframe, built it again, removed it again and part of the structure and finally managed to get it count as an interior. Very very buggy, it was difficult even with the debug mode.
And thanks to all the others that have taken their time to help! Really appreciated!
I literally picked up the previously plumbed sink and placed it back down in the exact same place it had been before and it worked. So give that a shot if anyone in the future has this issue. Hopefully your sink doesn't break in the process...
