Knives? Nope, one hit. Sledgehammer? Multihit. Carpentry hammer? One hit. Katana? Multihit.
OP, I am pretty new, like a month or something. I keep multihit on and I love it. I just started getting past 4-5 days consistently though. The whole game is about setting your own challenge level, so if something feels cheap to you just keep it off. If the game is too challenging, you can modify spawn settings instead if you want.
thats the irony with me-i'm not all that good
but it feels a tad cheesy so i guess next time around i'll switch it off
currently i'm on the run, day 19. i don't really like my chances of this lasting, but who knows?
just tried fishing for the first time and i've played like 280 hours
it's a great game.
what do you think of it?
I've been slightly obsessed for a little while, it's a substantial challenge for a platformer-deficient such as myself, I love nethack type games, and even though I usually avoid jump scare games, this walks the line without crossing it for me.
But it's so gd frustrating sometimes istg. I can never get a decent set of books and tapes to a selected fort location, which is like... the very early game. Nearly all my deaths now are to zombies ignoring/bugging out around push mechanics.
mmm
this SO approximates my first 200 hours(not trying to discourage you-i'm a slow learner, and lousy quick reaction person)
i understand your frustration
one thing that helped me was, a guy told me to try and zoom almost all the way in during melee-i often played zoomed out
also, keep your cursor close to your character
perhaps you are already doing both, but they were game changers for me and allowed me to start to last a lot longer
don't obsess on the books either. i used to do that, and i still like it. but if it gets you killed, obviously it's not worth it. there are many ways to grind skills. i just really make sure to watch TV that first week, and find it gets me going fairly well.
best of luck, never let your guard down-dying is fun!
Nah, it is how folks like to play it, their decision their oppinion.
Just like how some folks burn down massive hordes of zombies, or use the crate and fence tactic.
I get why some server have multihit on, in fact most of them. But makes not much difference to me i guess i will be lazier on a multihit game.
As long as we have fun call me whatevers! Just difference of playstyles like those who play with infection off, zombie respawn on/off, etc. That is why this game is so addictive; customization.
Why some people consider it "cheating" or "easy mode" is simply because the change of settings from the old build to the new build was to make it "more challenging" and they took off Multihit in that harder mode. Yet honestly, the different of making the zombie stronger vs weaker is WAY more impactful.
So yeah, for fun I say turn Multhit on and get used to it. It will really open more options than make it any bit less difficult. I would say it seems you did change from normally playing Apocalypse to Survivor; and that changes much more than just Multihit so you may want to just make a Custom with just Multihit changed if you want the same challenge you may be used to.
For the Crate Fence, you know some of the longer blunts can reach over a crate fence setup and melee them from +1 tile range. Did you know this? And on multihit you can do a nice wall clearance that way. But you need the longest blunts going for that range.
