Is a generator needed to survive the winter?
I think I'm good. I have a padded jacket, a hat and a scarf. My base is completely boarded up and I have enough food to last me months.
Yet my friend is telling me I'm gonna die. I cant see this happening. Thoughts?

nah not really needed. default temeperature ranges are very easy, its nearly impossible to catch a cold on normal settings.
just find a house with a fireplace built in. gg
or find one antique oven and use that.

A generator isn't needed. It's nice to have as you can freeze/refridgerate stuff but not required.
You can set up your crop rotation so that you'll always have something to eat, thus you don't need to freeze things and wait for the next harvest. Heat can achieved by getting an antique oven. You can also use the oven to cook your meals.

You don't need a generator, a house or any heat source to make it through winter. You can simply sleep in a car at night and be just fine. The cold is not particularly threatening in vanilla. And if food isn't an issue either then there's nothing to worry about.

You don't need anything to survive winter, see the CDDA challenge where you start with no water or power in a burning building while naked, wet, sick, drunk, with a bleeding wound full of glass shards and a broken leg at the beginning of winter in a low-loot world.

Finding a basic set of warm clothes is enough for default temperature settings. It doesn't get cold enough indoors to kill you even without power.

You don't need to worry about food too much either. You can survive the winter entirely on foraged berries and the like until spring, though you will lose a lot of weight if you do so.

No, but if you do the cdda or 6 months later challenge they are needed because all the car batteries are dead 90% of the time.

I can't say I've ever seen a house with a fireplace in vanilla. Do they exist?

Yeah house with fireplace exist.
Stove exist can be moved.
House with well exist (rare) but exist somewhere can’t remember
Can survive off car heaters as well

But clothing does the job in most cases. Being indoors a fully indoor area does the job too

Apparently you can eat a 1/4 of a poisonous mushroom and it will warm you up.
Never tried this, though, so take care if you try this.

Someone here hasn't heard of tax accountants, dictators, infant death, tax fraud and tax avoidance.
