Can I put zombies in my oven as fuel?
Just asking, because they are so many laying around my base and I am running out of twigs.
Please don't check nationality. Thanks.

EDIT: Why can't I burn shoes or underwear as fuel in the antique oven?

I don't think you can use zombies as fuel without a mod. There is definitely (or there was) a mod that allowed this though because I used it once.

Same with underwear and shoes, you can't rip them up like other types of clothing so they're not compatible as fuel, but there are mods that let you rip up underwear and shoes which will probably enable them as fuel (or let you tear them up into sheets and strips, which are compatible fuel)

For the same reason you shouldn't burn shoes or underwear, especially if you're using the antique stove. Zombies will contain a lot of organic compounds that you don't want to combust (unless you're doing a downtown Molotov run). IRL you shouldn't even burn coniferous wood in a stove because the resin will build up in the chimney and create a fire (bad kind) risk.

During the Spanish settlement of Aztec Mexico, they wrote about how they lacked pork fat which they would traditionally use to dress their wounds. After defeating a group of Aztecs and dealing with those who surrendered, the Spanish got the fattest corpses removed their skin and rendered them to their fats and lards, for which they used to dress their wounds. Around 1650-1700s so in that instance a corpse was used to fuel a fire. Grim I know. Very grim. Story was told by a foot soldier of the Spanish army.

In real life stuff- why talk about it at all?
This is a game, not a real life simulator. The zombies are a tip off that this will not compare to real life situations? Comparing them-I just don’t get it. Why? I see so much of that in here and it seems like such a waste of time to compare or argue over how it WOULD be IRL. Just me. Sorry if salty, no offense.

Anyhoo-
OP, you cannot put the Zeds in the antique stove but you CAN burn their clothes. Not even allowed to add undies and shoes as fuel, BTW.

I haven’t encountered any issues burning clothes. Perhaps others have had problems, or was that more unnecessary comparing this game to IRL burning organic material?
IF burning zed clothes is actually harmful to survivors, some wise player with more game experience can chime in. Stay alive!🧟‍♀️
I absolutely adore the level of diverse NERDERY this thread elicited!

If you build your fires right, using wood with a moisture content at or below 10%, it generates very little smoke. Then if you get the temperature of your stovetop to about 400 degrees....

...bones will burn for hours, like any piece of wood. Thats where the term "Bonfire" comes from, a bone fire.

The Crematorium mod from ShadowCop adds "cremation" to campfires and fireplaces.

There are those games where you can learn a lot;) From either of the game itself or from the forums:)

So I was salty. Sorry about that.
It’s just because I go to find an answer to a great question posted, and instead of an answer, there’s pages of comparing IRL stuff.
Not just this one, in many posts.

I’m just saying comparing them can be futile and a waste of time. That’s all. No offense intended. If a certain wood burns a certain way IRL- who cares?!? Did you think zombie gamers came to this forum for that kind of info? Really? Posters want to know IN GAME facts and fast. That’s all. Realism is one thing. Starting an answer in this forum with, “ well, IRL….” Stop it. Just resist.

A quick question about burning zeds in the oven devolved into a history of the word bonfire. Not necessary. Stay on topic. If you don’t know the answer, maybe don’t answer? There are tons of off topic forums for sharing this off topic…stuff.

Just one gamer’s humble opinion that I couldn’t bite my tongue about. No biggy. The unnecessary comparisons will continue and that’s fine. I’m human and hate my time being wasted, just like you. I’ll survive and this really isn’t a big deal. Perhaps I should’ve bitten harder?

I truly appreciate everyone who attempts to actually HELP on these forums. I really do. I think there might be about 17 of them. Oops! Salty again- sorry! Humanity showing. Actual specific answers to specific questions. I go here for help and to help. Thank you- to all of YOU posters!:steamhappy: 🧂🧂🧂

Well, where I live the air can kill you in 20 minutes. So keeping fire is a skill we learn early.

No venomous or large reptiles though, and only a couple months of mosquitoes. So thats a bonus.

so you have permanent cryogenic winter mod IRL.
