Shooting at point blank range
I can understand that i dont really know how to operate a gun , but missing from point blank while not panicked? Also shooting adds so little xp even with skill boosters from setting , anybody able to provide tips abt shooting? ( besides choosing a profesion that knows how to shoot )

sorta off-topic but vanillas base game values are designed to be ♥♥♥♥&ball and super tedious. Fortunately, making a sandbox-type world with custom settings (xp multipliers etc.) and maybe some mods will fix alot of other issues that you might have.
As for the shooting and leveling it just sucks by default like most activities. One thing you CAN do is use shotguns, as they are much easier to use and level effectively since they hit can hit groups of zombies at once. You might be able to turn on a highlight settings in the options menu for ranged combat. but now that i think about it, it might be from a mod.

Zomboid's skill system represents an actual amount of capability of any character - way too literally. Both in passive and active.
Whereas, 0 strength is basically dead person, 5 strength is an average and 10 is very strong individual.
Same for firearms, where 0 has no idea how to hold a gun and how to point it. That's stupid. I'd like to have some book in the game like with generators that explains your character how to become at least something with it.

To level up guns just push down a zombie, stand on it and shoot him.
Guns in this game just suck in vanilla. Even modded they're only slightly better.

Sounds like you need Fast Learner, if grinding isnt' your thing.

When you're skill level is low, don't expect to be good with the most difficult to use weapons - pistols.

Most people train with shotguns first, then start using other longarms around level 5-6, then start using pistols around level 8.
I see , my logic was that i would begin with a pistol and then level up with other guns , thank you

Odd, given that standing still and aiming at a prone zombie even if it isn't under your feet will usually show green instead even with skill 0.

if you have no panic level, or even low you can still do well with guns... even pistols can be 1-2 hit kills at 1-3 lvls, just gotta keep zeds at optimal range, or knock them down. obviously shotgun levelling is easiest though. rifles are never good due to firing rate and weight, just use shotgun until lvl 3 then you an use anything with at least some accuracy.
after lvl 4 i believe the amount of xp gained is significantly reduced, making it even more annoying to level.

On the subject of painful levelling, I really wish they hadn't nerfed ripping clothes. What was even the reason to disable ripping clothes from multiple corpses? Was it too overpowered? Of all the stuff players are crying out for and needing attention, THIS is what they choose to adjust?

"Hmm we could focus on NPCs but there are people out there levelling tailoring in mere days real time when it ought to be weeks real time. Guess NPCs will have to wait."

I don't think this was intentional, because it still works normally to rip everything IF you do 'Rip Sheets' from the actual crafting menu.

It was changed afaik, because with the old mechanism, when you clicked "rip - all" you ripped all clothes, including those in your inventory (not equiped).
Now you click rip all, and it's working only for the same container (at least for me, but my game is heavy modded), so you don't rip accidentally that nice leather jacket in your backpack.

Sawed-off shottie at low levels will still kill multiples (albeit VERY loudly). That's your best bet for leveling aiming early unless you got lucky and scored a hand crossbow.

When we are talking mods then yes a "silent" weapon like a crossbow works wonders, but in vanilla there is no such hing.

That was never really an issue for me, because I temporarily favorite any nice clothes I find. When I didn't, nice clothes were in my backpack anyway, and I don't believe 'Rip All' affected your backpack items - The same way you can't do crafting w/ items if they're in your backpack.

I second this. Start off at L0 with a sawed off, and grind out your first 3 levels with that. Its going to attract attention, so keep an eye on your ammo reserves, and be ready to bail out when the main horde shows.
