Have ingredients, cannot make ice cream cone

Level 7 cooking, what am I doing wrong? I know I've made one before, and now a can't.

In the crafting menu, the ice cream is not showing despite having it in my inventory.

Note; after crossing the map to rescue ice cream before the power outage (my own personal challenge). I had collected 70 total! (not to mention all those freezers) Woo Hoo!
THEN-
My generator blew up on me, don't get me started on THAT, and my ice cream melted in the short time it took me to place and hook up my backup. UH-UH! NO WAY! I will not stand for all that ice cream being melted. So I cheated and debug replaced my melted ice cream with debug fresh ice cream. That can't have something to do with it, can it?

Thanks for the help. Talk about 1st world zombie problems, but it is driving me crazy and my survivor needs to gain weight. Stay alive and TY!

Maybe I'm missed something, but I'm never seen any ice cream recipe without mods...

Checked the wiki, just to be sure: No recipe to make ice cream.

I'm playing vanilla and you certainly can make them, I have made one. I checked WIKI before asking here as well. It's not 100% current.

I can't even make the ice cream cone, let alone add candies. Weird! Anyone have a solution?

Hmm, making an ice cream cone is different from making ice cream so maybe it's a thing. Just a thought but maybe you need a spoon or utensils?

Missed the "cone" part, just focused on the "can't make ice cream". This is the moment when I scream.

Yes, you're right, you need a spoon, 10 units of ice cream and a defrosted cone. I've equipped each as primary and tried those ways. I"ve clicked on the bowl to see if that starts it, and it doesn't.

Found this thread on Google, discovered the answer. It's counter intuitive, but you have to "defrost" the ice cream, so it's no longer frozen, then you can scoop it into a cone and add any toppings you desire.

Wait what's the difference between melted ice cream and defrosted ice cream? How do you defrost it without it melting? Does it actually say it's been defrosted? Kind of embodies the game that that making an ice cream cone is such torture, heh.

It can be frozen with the green bar ticking down outside the freezer. When the bar disappears, it loses the "frozen" tag and it's just ice cream. Leave it too long and it will melt. Like leaving meat to defrost so you can cut it up and add it to a recipe.

you need the ice cream to be completely unfrozen, not even the green bar that says its freezing should be there before the game considers it to be ice cream that you can scoop. It should be called "fresh" without any sign of it being frozen for it to work."

guess the devs like their ice cream warm. Understandable, since they're british.
