What causes traps to break?
Sometimes I go to check my traps and one of them is gone and there are some nails and scrap wood where it used to be. Does anybody know for sure? I have plenty of guesses of my own but would like to know the facts of the matter if anyone knows.

:spiffo: is it him?

You being away for too long. That's why.

You need to check up on your traps in timely manner to get your bounty or they will have a chance to break out and destroy the trap.

I check them each morning at about the same time. Re-bait them if need be and come back approximately 24 hours later. Nine times out of ten it works like a charm. Maybe I am cutting the time a little close.

Maybe it isn't :spiffo:'s fault after all.

I haven't looked at the wiki, but I feel like traps have an RNG to catch something based on Trapping level and Bait, but there seems to also be some random Durability level that will cause a trap to be Broken. I thought Wire Traps would be far more durable than the no-skill box traps. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2934983607

Less than 24 hours shouldn't destroy a trap, but more than that will increase the likelihood.
I guess you just had a really bad luck?

If he just check the trap, but don't rebait them, then the damage counter don't reset.
Rebaiting the trap resets that counter.

Rebaiting the trap resets that counter.
Meaning, if the trap stays empty it increases a timer til Broken rate or the RNG to be Broken?

I think both statements are true.

If you don't remove/rebait the trap after you first put a bait in it, the timer for the chance for the trap to break will keep ticking.
